The Cat and the Punchbowl

My very first cat Cha-Cha was scooped up from a friend’s garden when she was just a kitten. It was odd how we came together because she was a Maine coon cat type even though she was born in Latvia. I guess we Americans found each other. Cha-Cha became part of my household even before Martin did and later on Christmas was always the busiest time of the year in our house. Everything seemed cluttered and decorations in the middle of everything but we enjoyed it anyway. Actually, the photo is rather historical the large framed photo against the wall on the left side is of my dad. It was taken of him at a train station during WW II somewhere in Germany as he had already gotten out of Latvia. He is sitting on a trunk that held his latest poetry writings and other stuff. Before he settled in a German DP Camp that trunk got lost during an air raid when he went to hide in a basement.
You can see our living room here as we were getting ready to celebrate Christmas. I used to make a wine punch and just as we were looking forward to dinner guess who got to the table first? There she was sitting in the middle of the table set for dinner and eyeing the punch bowl.

Your Christmas room is beautiful. That's so funny seeing Cha Cha eyeing the punch bowl. I know that photo of your dad is a special treasure to you.

@1creekgirl I was happy to see it came out so well on this photo. If she wasn't on the table Cha-Cha enjoyed sleeping beneath the Christmas tree,

@AmbiePam that photo is now with me here in Florida. Since it could be seen I was able to tell the story of that trunk,

@snowy22315 the punch in the bowl would move when you walked about the room, I guess that got her interested,

@Tampa_girl7 we loved that girl so much that if it wasn't for having to light the candles and put food on the table we would have filled our glasses with the punch and let her stay there,

Cats always know exactly where you don't want then and that's where they go.

@RasmaSandra They can't help it. They want to know everything that's going on around them.
It would be funny seeing one whisker shortened like that.

Cats find themselves comfortable anywhere and everywhere. We have had that experience.

@RasmaSandra Cats are fascinated to see liquid moving in a bowl.

@LadyDuck she was a chunky girl with fluffy fur. When you walked around the room the punch in the bowl moved so she was probably looking at the movement.

That's sad his trunk is lost forever. My cats would be eyeing that punch bowl too.

@JESSY3236 he said they all ran into a shelter when alarms sounded and the trunk had to be left on the train platform, After the air raid ended the trunk was no longer there,

@RasmaSandra Sadly many stories like that--my grandmother lost her wedding ring--a plain--and I mean PLAIN--not even gold--taken by an 'officer'

@GreatMartin it was the darndest thing my mom told me, dad had the trunk on the train platform, came a siren, everyone ran into a shelter, they came out, and no trunk. I mean during an air raid in WW II would you really think some idiots would drag the trunk away?
