Yes! The four bluebird babies have all hatched. I was correct with the date. June 2nd is what I called all along. But you still never know until you see them hatch. They all four seem healthy so far.
In one photo above you can compare their tiny shrimp-like size to my finger. They are so tiny and fragile. Absolutely a miracle to witness. If you look close at the photo to the left, looks like one has his arm around the other. So adorable.
Had to share the joy with you. The Bluebirds of Happiness always make my day. No matter how many times I witness this process, I am still like a kid on Christmas morning. The joy never goes away. And I hope it never does. I am so thankful.

@CarolDM Do they like watching them from the screen room? Can the cats even see the birds?

@kaylachan They do watch, but mostly the Dude. Brendel sleeps most of the time these days. She sometimes gets up in a chair and looks out in the yard a few minutes. They can see the birds. Even inside, they can watch the birds come on the deck (through the patio doors). The Dude watches out most of the windows and talks to them a lot.

I am doing the happy dance here. Not sure if you remember, there were five eggs, a few days ago, one disappeared. The female will do this, usually while incubating, if the egg is not a good one. I am so over the moon happy right now.

@CarolDM It don't take them long at all. Yesterday Patch killed a baby bird that fledged into the dog run. She was trying to herd it and I didn't look out in time to rescue it.

@wolfgirl569 Oh no. That happens. I am sure he did not intend on hurting him. Many babies do not survive.

@much2say They will be leaving the nest soon. I am behind on here too. They seem fine. The parents will not let me monitor any more. And the babies are right against the door, so it is too dangerous to open it. Don't want them fledging too early.

So cute ! How long will it take for the baby bluebirds to start learning to fly?

I have heard that some birds will abandon their offspring if there is any contact with the baby bird from people. I hope this is not the case with these birds.

@Scrapper88 Thanks Keith. I love seeing them each year. And they often come back to the birdbath and hopefully one day to raise their babies.

It's just amazing that they can survive in such a fragile state after they hatch. How do they survive a sudden and unexpected freeze? The parent birds are not there 24/7, so how do those featherless birds stay warm? Nature is amazing, especially when it comes to survival.

@moffittjc Without a doubt it is magical. Every year I learn something new, right here in my yard about nature.

It is amazing Jeff. I monitor daily to make sure there are no predators and they are safe so far. The Mom & Dad will sleep with them if the temperatures get too cold. They are around pretty much all the time. They usually sleep in the nearby trees.
