What weight loss program worked for you?

I'm trying to lose weight, and I tried exercising and cutting off some carbs, however, it is not working. It has been a year since I tried that, so I guess I need a new way to reduce weight. What method worked for you? I know I could just Google it and find the answer, but many of those advertised online methods are mere advertisements. I want to learn what truly worked for people, that's why I am asking you, my friends. If you don't have weight problems, which method worked best for a family member or friend you have witnessed? Thanks a lot for any recommendations. Have a wonderful day/night ahead of you.

I cut out all carbs until I got my weight down. I also increased my walking. I did allow myself one cheat day each week but still watched my calories. That kept me from feeling like I was denying myself. I now eat carbs most days but have kept my extra walking up. I get at least ten thousand steps most days

Wow, 10,000 steps! I could barely finish 2K steps a day. I wish I could achieve that too. I think I should do that too. Thanks for the tip.

I have lost a lot of weight. I think I ate my way through the first part of the pandemic, worrying about everyone. Then I finally woke up. I've tried so many diets over the years, would lose some weight, then gain it back. Nothing stuck. I was encouraged by a doctor friend to just set a calorie limit, and stick to it. I decided to try it, and it's the one and only thing that worked for me. I never go over 1200 calories except once a week, when I treat myself to a dessert or some ice cream. I've gone down many pounds and many sizes, and I am proud of myself. It can be done! I am living proof!

@MarieCoyle Now, I am motivated to do it. Your analogy is correct. It really means I could eat what I want within the calories I should ingest. Thanks a lot, Marie. It's a valuable tip.

@Jenaisle I think that we shouldn't use the world 'diet' because diets just don't work well. You are often told to eat things you really don't care for, at least some people don't--so the diet fails. If you count the calories, you can have what you like within reason, at least a small portion. If you can still eat what you like, it's more apt to actually work compared to a strict diet. I still had some carbs--but less, and within reason. I don't ever, ever want to go back to where I was before. You can do it! I did, and I never thought that I could.

The most successful long term weight loss program has been proven to be Weight Watchers, or WW as they are now called. That didn’t work for me though, although it has worked for millions of others. I lost 30 pounds by reading and following the book, “Bright Line Eating”. I told another mylotter about it, she bought it, and lost weight too. It may not be for everyone, but it worked for me. They didn’t say to do it in the book, but adding walking to their methods was good for me too.

what really worked for me was Intermittent fasting and low carbs together with exercise. For a year now I am maintaining the weight I have right now though I am starting back again as I still need to lose more weight. I just started my IF yesterday and low carbs yesterday. I also started on my walking the past two days. I have been stress eating the past weeks because of some challenges we have but now that I think about it, I do not want to go back to my weight last 2021.

Well, drinking a lot of water would drastically reduce weight. Other than that exercising at regular intervals with a proper routine also helps very much.

Personally, I am still at my "normal" weight. But I need to lose some bellyfat. So I'm just doing various light exercise in the morning. Whenever I could I do long walks (7-10 km). The thing with weight loss program is one method may work on someone but will not work on the others. Some easiy lose weight by dieting alone. Some need to workout. Then there are some who needs to do both. The best suggestion that I came across when it comes to weight loss is, first know your body. Start with how much weight to you need to lose. What is your metabolic rate? Things like that. Maybe you could find someone to help you know what you body really needs to reduce weight. And I suppose you are not into those diet pills (I don't recommend them).

Woah, awesome 7-10 km? I could barely keep up with less than 0.1 km. Your stamina and endurance are top-notch. You're right about knowing my body first and that what works for other people may not work for me. That's why I'm gathering all these recommendations and plan to implement them all one by one until I find one that would truly work for me. I don't take diet pills. I also know there could be serious side effects. Thank you for such a good recommendation. Have fun MyLotting,

When I was young I would just cut back on calories A LOT. I had Metrecal for two meals a day. They don't make it anymore. It was a drink in various flavors with limited calories. I'm sure you can use one of the drinks on the market today. NutriSystem has some as do some other diet plans.

What worked for me before was to cut down on carbs, especially rice. I'd usually skip the rice at dinnertime. I avoided sugary foods and drinks. I also walked a lot and did 15 to 20-minute exercises every day. For the past 3 years, my best fitness friend on YouTube has been Schellea of the Fabulous 50s channel. Her exercises are so doable for someone like me who's in the late 40s and trying to commit to a daily fitness regimen. I still need to work on my core, but I'm happy that I'm able to commit to exercising almost every day. It's a habit that I want to develop. I hope you find the right fitness regimen for your body.

Indeed, rice has a very high glycemic index. I'm skipping rice during dinner but I guess I should do my exercises daily without fail too. Yes, I think, I will be on YouTube to search for those videos too Thanks, Macy. Have a great afternoon.

Engaging in regular jogging, where I work up a good sweat, and adopting a mindful approach to my diet by consciously consuming more protein and balancing my carbohydrate intake, has proven to be highly beneficial in my weight control journey. Also, an ample amount of fruits and salads into my diet before 1400 hours aids in keeping my weight in check.

Hi Jenaisle, The truth is there will be many that say so many things will work but truthfully there is nothing but working out and calorie intake that will make a change. There are short fixes fat burning, surgery, or drinking cleansing products. But, consistent working out and movement will be the best bet along with minimizing high caloric consumption. A simple way to keep track, if desired, is by download free apps like Myfitnesspal where you submit what you eat throughout the day to track your caloric goals. It is always important to make sure your essential vitamins and nutrient levels are ok when focusing on health. The reason I mention this is becuase a doctor can confirm whether someone needs more iron in their system and can focus on certain diets. Once everything is well you can preplan your meals for the week as well or just focus on daily calorie intake. One thing I tried and works well is working out a consistent amount of days during the week. I have also worked out by jumping rope. I found that the more I committed to jumping a certain number of times it has helped from regaining the weight and is also useful when you don't want to run or jog for a long time. Jumping rope works out your whole body as you are using your arms, abs, and legs. A helpful way to not make it dreadful is to be able to eat at least 80% of healthier options and 20% preferred options. This way you can focus on your health but also not bore or tire yourself out. I hope something from my comment can assist you in your journey.

Yes, I understand your idea. I will have to use Myfitnesspal as stated by others too. May I know how many counts of jumping ropes you perform every day? I'm not so fit, so I may have a hard time doing that. I believe "consistent working out and movement will be the best bet" too. I just need the will and the determination to push through with my plans. Thank you for your recommendations and have a nice day.
