Brought My Dog Out to Dinner Tonight

My husband was doing a webinar for work tonight and working at the dining room table. That meant our dog, Jenny, had to get away from the house because she has a tendency to bark at the slightest noise. That would have been inappropriate during a professional webinar.
So my friend and I went out to dinner at a restaurant that has an outside deck and they allow you to bring your dog. My dog is really good in public places and once we got her some water and a few doggie treats, she just laid under the table and was as good as gold.
I had a summer seasonal salad with grilled chicken and did give her some bites of the chicken and told her she was a good girl, both of which she enjoyed.
Do you ever bring your dog out to dinner?

Glad you were able to bring your dog to dinner, I am sure Jenny enjoyed that. I am a cat person, I never had any dogs,

@Kouponkaren For a while I was considering getting a cat stroller. However, they appear very skitterish when it comes to loud noises, My apartment day to day is very quiet, I think they might get very scared if I took them outside,

I think Jenny really did enjoy it. She would much rather be out and about than lying around the house. I don't suppose you ever brought one of your cats out to dinner? :0)

That sounds awfully cute. There really aren’t places to bring your dog to eat around here. Although, I did read about a new place in downtown Oklahoma City that just opened about two weeks ago. It is a huge space with various services offered, which also includes restaurants. Each place is open to everyone who wants to bring their dog. It is such a rare thing here that I would hope it would be successful.

That's great. We are limited to places with outside decks and only when the weather is nice and not too hot, cold or rainy.

@Kouponkaren I’d eat at a place that allowed dogs even if I didn’t have a dog, just to SEE more dogs.

The cat usually sat in my lap while I was driving! She was a good girl.

So that answers my next question about whether or not you ever brought your cat out to dinner. O once had a cat that I got as a kitten and I trained her from a young age to travel in the car with me.

It was a fun treat for her, and because she was so good, it was nice for me as well. I feel like a proud mom when people tell me how sweet and beautiful she is!

Yes, his webinar went on for 2 hours. That would have been a long time to keep her quiet in the house.

Yes, she is and we are fortunate. She does have a lot of energy so I am surprised she does so well when we take her out.

Aw, I am sorry you don't have any doggies. If you are able to adopt I highly recommend going to a local shelter. There are so many sweet dogs there that need homes.

We don't have a dog now, just Gracie our cat. But sounds like Jenny was a perfect dinner date.

Oh, she was. She is very good company and I try to take her to run errands with me whenever possible because we both enjoy it. That's harder to do when summer hits in Georgia. I can't leave her in my truck due to the heat, but if I am just going through the drive-through at a pharmacy or the bank, or getting gas I always try to bring her with me.

A few years ago we had a puppy we were 'socialising' for the charity 'Dogs for Good' which provides assistance dogs for people with disabilities. He came everywhere I went, to the shops, to meetings, to concerts, on buses and trains. He was very laid back about it all.

@Kouponkaren It wasn't as hard as you might think. For one thing he was the kind of dog that likes everyone. We never felt he had a special bond with us in particular, he was quite happy to go off with the trainer for the next stage of his education without a backward glance. When we saw him months afterwards he seemed pleased to see us, but no more pleased than he was to see anyone else. I would have found it much harder if he had felt like 'my' dog and I thought he was pining away without us.
Also it was rather like the sort of situation when a child grows up and leaves school. The teachers may be sad to see them go, but at the same time they are pleased that the child has done well and is moving on to other things.

I can totally understand that teacher analogy. Good for you for taking on his training. That was a special thing to do.

Aw, that was nice of you to do. I bet it was hard to say goodbye to him when it was time for him to move on?

No dogs are allowed to public places, mall or restaurants because there are muslims consumers every where. Hence pets are only allowed at thr park only

I don't understand what Muslim consumers have to do with dogs in public places. Can you explain?
