Wedding gowns have changed in my country.

I was watching Say yes to the dress on TV and suddenly I started to think and one thing led to another.
Many of the young girls lately are not marrying with classic wedding gowns. And years ago I saw in a state of shock a bride in white with snickers instead of delicate shoes. Then, later on, one of my best friends´ daughters got married in a big wedding.
The groom had a nice suit, a tie and snickers again.
And now that the British Royals take so much space in the media, I remember Princess Diana´s wedding dress and feel tha it is outdated.
The world has changed. Not only wedding gowns.

And if you want to know everything about wedding gowns, You can watch shows on TV. Gowns cost about $ 5.000 and up

I guess it shouldn’t surprise me, but I’m still slightly surprised when I see someone in a red or black wedding dress. It’s obviously their day, so whatever makes them happy is important, but that wouldn’t be my thing. Now that I’m 42, if I got married it wouldn’t be overly fancy; I’m past the age of that being desirable. I remember my sister’s wedding dress being very elaborate; she was 27 at the time though.

I have also seen wedding dresses of every color. But then, I´m VERY old. And I am still shocked at the amount of tatoos that the brides have.

I still think that one thing has to "go" with the other. If I wanted sneakers for my wedding, I´d get wed in jeans.

I discovered how old I was by looking at the things young people like.

It is very interesting to hear that wearing bride gown with sneakers I think it is not a very big problem as usually nobody can see that as the wedding gown is so long to cover the shoes. I remember I wore high heels in my wedding and then I was lame next day

When I was young, sneakers were called gym shoes and were only used for sports. Now it is difficult to find good shoes and they are expensive. Young people only use sneakers or boots.

That´s my idea too. If I wanted to wear sneakers (because my feet hurt for instance) I´d have an informal wedding with everyone in jeans.

@LadyDuck There are good sneakers, but, like everything, you have to take good care of them.

@marguicha I think that they could avoid sneakers at a wedding. There are pretty comfortable shoes, a lot more comfortable than sneakers. Those horrible things are the cause of so many toenail fungus in our days.

I would have preferred to wear shoes no matter what dress. My feet would have hurt.

@wolfgirl569 My yoiungest granddaughter goes barefoot all the time, even in winter. I dread about her poor feet. But then, my husband told me that he used to play soccer barefooted when he was young.

Yes, it's changing. But it's a good thing. I can't wear heels and dressy shoes. I can only can wear flats or sneakers.

I am at a moment of my life when I can only wear comfortable flats or sneakers too. But I´m 78 and I´m not planning to get married. Unless, of course, I can marry Bill Gates for his money. He seems a very decent sort of extremelly rich man.

I don't care for the really revealing gowns that some brides wear now.

I don´t either. Besides, those dresses only look good in slender, model looking brides.

I have seen sneakers on brides, and even barefoot brides. Yes, things keep on changing.

My eldest daughter made me make a dress very similar to what the actress of the movie Tess wore, now that I remember.
