Come and admire my chickens, says Mother Hen

One of our chores at our present house-sit is to let this hen and her four chickens out of their pen in the morning and to put them back in each evening. We also clean their water bowl and give them pellets.
The hen is an Isa Brown, well known for their laying qualities. This one is a really attentive mother too and very quiet. Today, she brought her little family right up to the kitchen door. Perhaps she wanted to show them off.

Or, and this is just my guess, she saw you taking photos of the other inhabitants of the farm and wanted to make sure you got a good photo of her family to show to us, too.

@JudyEv Most chickens do take good care of their chicks.

My Grandma used to raise baby chicks, they were so cute! These chicks are almost full grown, it doesn't take long:)

The chickens in the picture look pretty big. The mother seems not to leave them alone

@JudyEv Does she still keep them under her wings?

@allknowing I think so but once they're in their pen, they go up a ramp into their house and you can't see what they do. But I'm sure she does.

I've been tempted to make a book just for ourselves but it would be quite an undertaking.

She should be a proud mom and the cute chickens deserve to be showed off. Seems like the new house sitting is keeping you very occupied with all their pets.

@JudyEv Yes, it does sound like a lot of work with pets. I hope Vince and you are enjoying it. It might be exhausting.

@arunima25 It is a bit exhausting mentally as it's quite a responsibility with so many animals.

I love to see the hen and her chickens. My aunt used to raise chickens, the chickens there liked to poop on the terrace of my aunt's house.
how about your chicken? does the chicken there have a different behavior.

That's cute that mama hen is showing off her babies. And here I thought you only had cats and dogs to care for

There are a few other things. I'll gradually get around to covering them all.

She is a pretty chicken. Baby chicks just grow so fast, before long they will be as big as she is!

Yes, it won't be long. They seem to have grown just in the time we've been here.
