The Wrong Emoji

Have you ever made a big error in what emoji you used here on Mylot, or in a text? It doesn’t happen often if I am using a desktop, but I have a Kindle and phone at home to use the internet. Someone was talking about a death in the family, and so accidentally my finger hit the laughing emoji; I caught it soon after, before someone saw it. Then another time someone declared their cancer is in remission, and I hit the crying emoji. Once again, I caught it before anyone could respond to it. What are some of your wrong emoji stories? I’m sure a lot of people don’t even use emojis; how often do you?

I use emojis all the time. I hope people would tell me if I've accidentally used the wrong one in a response/comment here on myLot.

I always check and edit if I notice that I used the wrong emoji. It happened that I wanted to use the crying emoji for someone who lost a pet and I hit the laughing one. I am glad I noticed.

When it first emerged a an emoji I thought the poop emoji was a chocolate kiss and added it to my messages to friends and loved ones...and then my daughter hilariously corrected me.

That often happens with me when I am mylotting on my smartphone. Luckily, I corrected it before posting. I use the emojis on myLot code very much, but my use is limited to a very few ones.

I don't think I have any stories myself. I don't use emojis very often. But that would be annoying to accidently hit it and not know... I sometimes end up with typos which is just as annoying lol

True. And autocorrect can burn you. I wrote “penal” as in penal colony, and I accidentally misspelled that. You can imagine what autocorrect made it.

None spring to mind, but I know it has "almost happened" where I would have sent the wrong one like that. The Kindle often makes me hit the wrong emojis.

I can relate and always do a correction before sending the lol emoji sometimes in place of the cry emoji and the thumbs up sometimes I accidentally press thumbs down

I used the wrong one once a few years ago. I didn't realize it and the person who is no longer here asked me why I used that emoji. That's when I realized it was the wrong one.

i don’t really use emojis in texting or social media, but here I use them often, the good thing is writing here can be edited. I don’t think I have any wrong emoji stories. And if I find someone using the wrong emoji, I'm okay with that.
