I've always thought lighthouses were such a unique invention, and many are still used today, though most are now unmanned.
The first (presumed) lighthouse was the Pharos of Alexandria, which was built in 280 B.C. and stood 450 feet high, which is around 35 floors of a modern building.
It was also the tallest lighthouse ever built in known history.
Pictures of lighthouses can be so beautiful, while provoking many different symbolisms and emotions. The one I love is the light of Jesus Christ.
Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Lighthouses are nostalgic for me. I grew up by the ocean and still live by the ocean and there are lighthouses at every major and every small port in my Province. The most dangerous lighthouse to visit is the one at Peggy's Cove. It is situated on a rocky bluff that gets slippery at high tide and the waves breaking against it can sweep you away before you know it.
