Are you a heavy or light sleeper?

When I'm asleep nothing wakes me up. I sleep through thunderstorms, construction, when the property maintenance crew are mowing the grass right outside my window, during unit renovations...etc. It's scary what I can sleep through. One morning I woke up to find a maintenance worker checking my plumbing. I was given a notice and knew to expect him, but when he arrived he knock loudly on the door and when I didn't answer he let himself in and proceeded to do this job. I know others who will wake up at a pin drop. How about you? Do you wake up whenever the cat uses the litter box or are you on another planet with me?

If I hear something out-of-the-ordinary in my house, I wake up... If I'm sleeping where there is a lot of noise for some reason, somebody has to say my name or touch me to wake me up. (It's not a good idea to touch me when I'm asleep if I went to sleep alone. I punch first and then see who touched me after that.)

My brother is like that. The only person who can get away with waking him up is his girlfriend. Anyone else better know where the front door is.

I've been told I'm a heavy sleeper once I'm out. One example was a time when I was on vacation, and I locked my brother out of the motel room I was sharing with him. He had a key, but I had locked the chain on the door. Everyone was yelling at me to wake up and I slept right through it. I was a teen back then so not sure that when you age if one's sleeping habits changes.

@Starmaiden Ha, ha. Yes, it became quite an adventure. We had to get the hotel to open the latch.

I’m unfortunately, one of those “breathe, and you hear it” sleepers. Meanwhile, my dad can’t hear without his hearing aids so he can sleep through a tornado.

Your dad should have a comfortable bedroom in the basement during tornado season.

I am a light sleeper. That's why I couldn't get enough sleep even during nighttime because I wake up with every scratch or noise I hear. I find it hard to take a nap during the day too, because of the same reason. Hence, I'm lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep every day.

Even a fly in the room wakes me up. I have never been a good heavy sleeper.

That's great that you sleep so soundly. I have trouble sleeping and outside noises make it worse.

When I lived in communal housing I shared a room with 5 other women. One grinded her teeth and two of them snored. To get to sleep I stifled one ear with the pillow and plugged the other ear with my index finger. Once I got to sleep I heard nothing for the rest of the night.

Depends on what it is or when. Most of the time I'm a hard sleeper, but catch me at the right time I can be startled.

As for me I can say that I'm a light sleeper because I hear everything as I sleep
