Short Story: Enthusiasm for God

Pastor Gordon Smithson was giving a sermon to his flock on how to always live from our enthusiasm for God.
He said that we should be enthusiastic for God in all aspects of our life, including our working life too.
Here is the rest of his sermon:
“We each have a spiritual purpose, and a divine mission to fulfil for God, which we should carry out from the energy of love, and from a real enthusiasm for doing it.”
“We should not allow ourselves to cool off in our enthusiasm, nor to lessen our living from love, to live from our own desires instead.”
“God guides us in our lives, and we should allow him to do so, by staying connected to him, through our love for him, and with our interaction with him with our prayers.”
“We need God, and his assistance in our lives, and we need to follow his commandments in our lives to the best of our abilities too.”
“Our words, and our actions, should build others up in their own attitude towards God, in their lives too. We should be an example to others, from the ways that we live our lives.”
“God’s will cannot be carried out without enthusiasm. Nobody listens to a cold fish.”
“We should hold onto our zest for living a Christian life, and never let go of that feeling, that we are God’s servants, doing his will, here, in our lives.”
“Right enthusiasm is love in action. Always maintain a positive enthusiasm, and never let any negativity undermine it.”
“Your enthusiasm can be felt by others, so always ensure that God, and his love are behind it, firing it up within you.”

Thanks.
Enthusiasm is required in most areas of life, in sport, in our work, with our kids, and we should not neglect being enthusiastic for God too.

@innertalks I think that is one thing my parents taught me well.

@AmbiePam Some discernment is needed though, as sometimes somebody overly enthusiastic can catch us up in their trap.
Somebody, very enthusiastic in what he was selling, nearly trapped me into getting involved with a pyramid scheme of getting rich quick once.
It was good that I didn't buy in right away, but said to him to give me a few days to think about it. I investigated it out, and it turned out to be a scheme that was a bit dodgy in its operation.

Yes, I believe that anyone inspired by God and His love would have positive traits, such as enthusiasm, diligence, and patience to keep sharing the words of God.
When this enthusiasm diminishes, it denotes that the person is no longer influenced by God's Spirit.

At my church, we are often told to try to be happy, and joyful too.
A solemn message is not received as well as a joyful one, given from a loving heart.

Thanks. Sometimes, we do not feel like being enthusiastic, but when sharing God's message with others, we do need to try to be.

When we live with passion towards our goal, then it is smooth sailing to achieve it.
Enthusiasm and passion are infectious and inspire others too.
We need to live with an inner knowing that our lives are divine and should not be frittered away through mindless pursuits chasing those that will turn into a liability in no time.
Yes, pastors should set an example that inspires.

Enthusiasm and passion are prevalent in other fields too, like in sports, and in music.
As a Pastor though, they need to keep sincere, and not become overbaked by enthusiasm to turn others away, rather than to draw them in. The street corner religious type, spouting off stuff about fire and brimstone, although enthusiastic about it, is using the wrong words to get his message across.
Using the right words, is just as important as speaking them from enthusiasm, and passion.

@Shiva49 Yes, our words must be in sync with our enthusiasm, staying tuned through our heart of love.

@innertalks With love in our hearts, our words will reflect it in abundant measure.
And then, even a child will notice the hypocrisy inherent when actions do not match the words.
Yes, some rub us the wrong way, and their overflowing enthusiasm is a turn-off.

Yes, most of the time a positive attitude is a good attitude, better than a negative one, except when we have a shoddy snake-oil salesman, toting the positiveness of his ointment, or elixir, and he is really lying through his teeth, just to make some quick money.
Both the good, and the bad, can use positivity, and enthusiasm, to plug their wares, and ideas, to someone.
We do need to stay thoughtful, and think for ourselves too.
