Moved Out

My eldest landed her first job after she graduated with her first-degree last year. After passing the board, she told me that she wanted to have a short break after 5 long years studying in college. Hubby and I consented to it believing that she deserved a good break. She travelled for a while and spent most of her time with her best friends. She even made a deal with me that she’s willing to work for me with good pay of course! She ran errands for me and even became my personal driver for a short period of time. When she finally landed her first job last May she decided to move out to get closer to her workplace. We could not do anything about it since it was the wisest thing to do to save her cost and time as well. Her little sister joined her because it was more practical to stay there since it’s also closer to her school. We made a lot of preparations and even helped the two of them feel comfortable as we also want to make sure that they would be safe there. Now, hubby, I, my youngest son and our two fur babies are living together. By the way, the sisters also brought our youngest fur baby with them. They come home every weekend but there are times that they don’t. It’s quite sad at home because we missed them a lot but it’s good practice for them to be more responsible. Photo is mine

My children are still young, my oldest one is 15 and he is now in Paris in a school trip, it was his first multi day trip to another country without us. He arrives tomorrow, i can't wait for him to arrive.

It's always difficult to let them leave the nest but when that's the best thing for them to do, it's still hard to let go.

That is true. I miss them a lot knowing that their rooms are empty now.

@DaddyEvil I think all parents like that and kids when they have their privacy, they do not want to be disturbed most often if its how they call it but then they also worry about us of course... As much as possible I try to give Camille and Colleen a space but sometimes I cannot help texting and calling them.

@cherigucchi Oh, I'm sure that's true... When Pretty moved to college, it was hard for me to handle. I called her too much to check on her until she told me to stop calling. Then an ice storm hit my city and knocked all the power out, city wide. She kept trying to call me and none of the phones had a charge... When the power was restored, I charged my phone and called her. She was frantic, worried something had happened to me.

My mom cried when my 19 year old sister moved out after getting her Bachelors degree. She just wasn’t ready for it to be permanent, but she was happy for her. Even though my sister had been living in the college dorms for 3 years, I think she hoped she’d move back home. You reared your kids well, and you’ve done right by them.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. I did cry too when they left but I did not want them to see how sad I was.

The process of the nest filling up and then getting empty is normal

It's hard when your children leave home for the first time. I hope she does well in her job.

I'm sure it is sad but young people need to become independent and it seems they have a lot of support from you both.

That is true. We do always support them because they still need guidance.
