Do you like to sew?

I know we have a lot of crafters here on myLot. Who was it that used to make such gorgeous quilts?
In years past I crocheted for a while, made a purse and a few things, then later knitted some winter scarves, but I'd have to learn all over again now.
Lately I've been wanting to make some fabric coasters. I hate when liquid drips off the glass all over me. I bought some pretty material squares and batting, so I hope to get started when I have the energy, lol.
Do you sew or make other crafts? I'm truly impressed with all the creative myLoters on here.

I used to make a lot of clothing for my children when they were little--the girl's nightgowns, boy's PJ's--mainly because they liked to pick out the fabric, but back then, it was way cheaper to sew clothing. Now that the price of patterns has skyrocketed so much, along with the cost of the materials. it's way more expensive to sew. I do make some things still, just not clothing. I like to crochet, but I am not as good at it as some of the beautiful things I see posted here. Hopefully, you will get your coasters made soon, and show them off to us!!

I bought a couple of plastic bag purses from @Debscrochet and they were so cool. They were just plastic bags from stores she recycled into beautiful purses. I don't know where she has been, but she is very talented.
I would love to have the talent you and so many others here have.

I might but I do not have a sewing machine and my hands wouldn't love it right now.

@1creekgirl - I would like to have more time, but there are the usual house chores that need our daily attention.

@LadyDuck I know what you mean. Although Dale's been doing a lot of my chores since I've been sick.

I used to do all types of crafts, especially needlework. I gave all my craft items away when my arthritis in my hands got too bad. I hope your surgery goes well.

I love to crochet but I already stop and lost interest. But it was fun as I look at my projects before

@1creekgirl It's very time consuming. I don't have lots of time now to do a project

I can sew and did sew when Pretty needed some of her clothing repaired or I needed some clothing repaired. I also crocheted. I used to make blankets and scarves...

@1creekgirl I haven't done any crocheting since my eyes started swelling closed... I don't remember why. I have a blanket about 1/3 of the way done.

I used to love to sew until my eyes got bad and I couldn't see to thread the needle. Now I spend my time crocheting and have made scarfs, afghans and baby blankets.
Hope you'll post a picture of your coasters when they're done.
I think the quilter you might be thinking of is Morley Hunt but I haven't seen her here in quite awhile. She used to make gorgeous quilts..

That's exactly who I was trying to remember! I hope she's well and still quilting. Wasn't her sister or a relative on here?

Thanks. Have your heard of candlewicking? It's an unusual hand craft, but very pretty.

I used to do a lot of cross-stitching until my poor eyes begged me to stop. I miss sewing though and wish I could make a quilt by hand. I've always planned on doing some slow stitching for fabric art but never got around to doing it.

When my kids were little I sewed many of their clothes, but haven't sewed in years now. A quilt would be fun to make though.

I am not really fond to sew but I sew my torn house clothes if they have to be repaired. Good thing we have Home Economics in school when I was still studying so I learned how to sew simple repairs.

Not really, I am not very crafty. I do like paint by number but not sure you would call that a craft.

I can sew a button on and hand sew tiny repairs. I never learned to use a machine.
