My daughter is still trying to quit smoking. She has been smoking for 40+ years. She has tried several times to quit culminating this summer she tries twice. One time she picked a date, the other she bought a carton and was going to stop when the packs were gone. Neither time was she successful. I got her the FUM vap thing and she likes it. She says that it is making her sick to smoke now. She is collecting several vapes and plans to quit on her birthday which is October 14th. I am still hopeful and back her up. I tell her I don't want to see her carrying around an oxygen machine and not being able to breathe. It is getting harder for her to climb the stairs and sees other problems she is having due to her blackened lungs.
She wants to quit and keeps on trying. What else can she do?

I quit smoking with Chantix. But the psychiatrist told me that it would not be enough if I did not MEAN to quit. I then did my math. It was either smoking or vacations. I did not have the money for both. I chose vacations. I haven´t smoked for over 10 years.

So do I. I hate to think of my grandson having to see her and take care of her after I am gone. Sick parents are such a sad thing.

I'd like to quit also. I tried using the vape and I ended up in the hospital with acute pneumonia and pulmonary embolism. (Blood clots in the lungs) I was hospitalized for 25 days. No more vaping for me.

That is what she's doing, getting several vapes. I will have to tell her. I don't think vaping is much different than smoking anyway. Just a different collection of bad stuff.

@Starmaiden ........Oh, that's different than the one she uses. And, I recently got her a Fum. It is supposed to be made of natural ingredients.

She will have to identify triggers and have a list of coping mechanisms. Quitting is tough. Maybe she can read inspirational stories of people who succeed quitting.

Yes, I have discussed these things with her. I don't think she takes it seriously.

I hope she finally quits. It's a terrible habit. She has to REALLY want to quit to be successful.
