The American Dream

During my younger years, I used to have this American dream. That is why I took a major in Physical Therapy because I wanted to live and earn a living in the US. However, this lifelong goal changed. It changed its course when I realized that this was not my dream life. I need to be with my immediate family in my country. Traveling in the US will be fine for me, but I will not live there for good. Despite having this disposition, most of my relatives in Los Angeles, California, keep encouraging me to pursue my childhood American dream.
Have you achieved any lifelong goals or dreams?

I used to want to be with them before. Then I lost interest because they just gave me false hope a couple of times. You are right that it is best not to be with them. Being a Physical Therapist is a great job, but I need to stop for personal reasons.

I know a lot of people here in the Philippines have American dream and they based their success in life if they are successful working and living in the US. I would love to live in Canada

@Shavkat I prefer Canada over the US. I have cousin in London and that is a good place too

You could always move your brother and sisters to the US with you.
I have a Filipino friend who dreams about moving to the US and joining the military... I don't know if he'll achieve his dream or not. Either way, I'll always encourage him to do what he really wants.

@Shavkat I would invite you for a visit but I can't. I know the person that invites must show they can support another person while the person is here and I can't do that right now.

It would be hard to leave your family. Our son lives permanently in Ireland and can't visit very often. We're now getting too old to go back there and he sometimes regrets that he ever left Australia. But the feeling doesn't last too long. He has a fulfilling life there.

It is also what I think about leaving my immediate family. Although I can bring them if got the US visa and the like. But then, I felt that they will not want this option, especially my biological parents. I can relate that the genuine feelings will always there despite the long distance situation.
