We Are Heartbroken

Early this morning our sweet Ginger crossed over the rainbow bridge to join her other fur siblings we have loved.
She had been declining the past month or so, sleeping more, interacting with us less, eating and drinking less.
We got her when she was 2. She had a loud purr, would give us love bites if we dared to pet her one too many times, eventually liked taking a bath, and ran around the house, especially at 3-5 AM. She was the one who when we told her not to knock things off shelves waited for us to put them back so she could knock them down again. She wasn't a lap cat, nor wanted to be held but she loved us and we her. She will be missed and forever loved.
Our home is quiet for the first time in 15 years. No meows, no purring, no running around playing with toys, no snuggles (Buttons was our snuggle baby).
Perhaps in time, we will once again open our hearts and home to another, but for now, we grieve for our girls.

I'm so sorry, I know it hurts so terribly to lose our pets. They are part of our family. It sounds to me like she was very much loved. Big hug, Dena.

Sad day for you. Gineer has left behind happy memories.

I am so, so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a fur baby. But I do know this. All your fur babies are waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge; and you will see them again one day. I hope you do get another cat or two to love.

I’m trying not to cry! I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Ginger. Her picture says so much. I am glad to know she was loved so much, as other animals aren’t as lucky. But how much better that she gave you the gift of her love too.

I am so sorry, I know the pain of losing a pet firsthand. I usually get another pet right away, so many need homes.

She looks a lot like our Cal. Of course, Cal is a boy. But still. I know this was a long time ago, but of course, our furry friends never leave our hearts. I have three of them in my backyard. Our Sneakers and Theus who were our cats before the two we have with us now, and my mom's dog Murphy.
