Does anyone have their Christmas shopping done?

Last year, it seemed like I waited until the month of December before doing any Christmas shopping. This year, I have tried to keep an eye out for things that would make great Christmas presents when I see a good deal. I can’t afford to spend much, so when I see a good deal I want to take advantage of it. It looks like I’m almost done with Christmas shopping with the exception of a couple of people. Have any of you started Christmas shopping? I’ve never looked for things so early in the year. I only use my online earnings to buy Christmas presents, so it also depends how much money I make. When do you all start looking?

That's really smart. I don't exchange gifts with anyone, what my friends and I do is give our time to the other so that if a friend needs to talk I'll meet them or go to their house and let them vent or if 1 needs a shopping companion I do that and of course they do the same for me. We're all over 65 yrs old so none of us really want anything unless its thousands of dollars which none of us has to begin with

You have done so well being all done and sticking to a budget, that shows such discipline. Our son and his wife celebrate their wedding anniversary next month, which we usually get them a gift certificate to go out for a nice meal together. They they have birthdays a week apart in September, and I always wait until they are over before starting my shopping. I am only really concerned about what we will get for the girls. We have decided not to get them toys for gifts, as they only use them for a short time and they usually get so many at Christmas that they do not play with everything. We started a little money market account for them last year, the money we would have spent on toys will go into that, so that their parents can spend it on them in an appropriate way. We will buy them pajamas and socks, hairbands, and new outfits. My hubs, our son and daughter-in-law are the only people that I buy for, and I have to get into the right frame of mind for gift ideas.

Those are such good decisions for the girls.

@AmbiePam Eventually we will consider buying them a family membership to the Y, so that they can enjoy swimming lessons 12 months of the year. But right now there are not enough programs for tots and parents to warrant the price of a family membership.

I normally would be grabbing the deals on gifts all year long, but for the past few years we've kept it super simple. We've been discussing with the kids that maybe instead of gifts, we should save up and do some kind of vacation . . . even in the future as they grow up to keep it as a tradition. I might get some gifts for others later . . . but it depends . . . I feel like baking a variety of cookies and plating them up as gifts.

Our families aren't material people, so George and I don't Christmas shop. We might put out a decoration or two each year, but other than that, that's it. Not sure what we'll do this year now that George's retired.

@AmbiePam No one I know has little kids anymore. Scratch that, my husband's "sister" kid has an almost two-year-old and is pregnant with her second kid. Her family spoils the kids with toys.

I haven't even thought of Christmas! I'm just focused on getting over this pesky cancer. God is amazing.

@1creekgirl That must have been the most difficult Christmas in quite awhile.

@AmbiePam It really was hard. But praying this Christmas will be better. It's strange, but just before I was diagnosed, I told the kids I just wasn't up to hosting Christmas here any longer. I just didn't have the energy.

Absolutely not. It’s too early for me. I usually do my shopping the week before Xmas when everything goes on sale.

I shop all year. If I see something that someone will like I get it. I am usually done before Christmas

I no longer do any Christmas shopping but I have been thinking that with the gift cards I get from my survey sites I might choose some things for myself and put them away for Christmas. By then I will have forgotten and it will be a nice surprise and of course, I will get some catnip mice for the cats. I think they'll like them,

I used to start Christmas shopping really early like you're doing but now we have so few to buy for, I don't bother so much. If I see something extra special that I know would suit a particular person, then I'll buy that.

I do that last minute. I only have my adult children to buy for so I give them gift cards or pre-paid visa's and they can go to town on themselves. Easy peasy.

It's still too early but yes that's a great idea. I actually still have some items here on hand which I can use as presents like wallets and purse.

I have several sewing projects for Christmas gifts, but that's it for right now. I feel rather guily spending time here on mylot, I have too much to do...but it helps me keep focused and I enjoy it.

I don't lol. A new iPhone will be released in fall. I just usually wait for that. But I don't really do Christmas shopping. Everything can be bought quite easily these days online.

It’s still fun for me to do, but I feel like it’s because I don’t buy for as many people as I used to, and that makes it easier.

@LadyDuck I can understand that. We set a low limit on what everyone is “allowed” to spend on each other.

I haven't done any yet. Way too early. But I'm always up for ideas to get something for Bailey between now and late fall. It's mostly gift cards to my brother and/or sister-in-law, or one for the both of them. That's what we do every year for Christmas.

Maybe during November sales. Otherwise, if I see something nice while shopping, buy it first then.

That is good to get it done early if you can! Finding good deals definitely helps. I haven't even started thinking of gifts - everyone's birthday is in the month or two before Christmas lol! I have found some gifts on Temu that I am ordering with each order I make though....but not sure if they'll be for Christmas or birthdays!

A couple months ago I bought this "heart" vase for one of my nurse friends for Christmas off of Temu. They have some clever items, and I bet the presents you bought for birthdays OR Christmas will be well liked!
