Celebrating friendship with chicken and cake

We got together with six friends yesterday. We’ve been friends with them all for about 30 years now and meet reasonably regularly. One couple lives in the village and provided baked chicken pieces. Two other couples bought yummy salads and we bought a beesting cake. This has two layers of sponge and cream and wasn’t as rich as I thought it might be. It was a wonderful get-together. We ate, drank, chatted and laughed till late afternoon. Two couples went home and we four ‘villagers’ had a snack of mini quiches and sausage rolls before going to the movies at the clubhouse. I think a quiet day is now called for.

@JudyEv I too started this class mates get together years ago and it continued for quite a while The first one after we shifted here was in the year 1996. The earlier ones were in the city

Thanks. We're very lucky to live here. Having to leave our little property doesn't hurt quite as much as it did when we first moved.

Thanks. I was pleased it was more cake than cream - just a nice amount of each. Sometimes such cakes have way too much cream and it really spoils it.

Sometimes individual purchases of beestings are pretty much all cream so I'm glad this one was more cake than cream.
