No one stays young forever

I love watching old movies as I've mentioned in previous posts.I especially love old musicals. I love watching them dance. While watching it just kind of hit me how young and in shape they all were at the height of their careers and then seeing them old it just hits differently. It reminds me of how life is for all of us if we are fortunate enough to live to be old. When we are young we feel like we will be young forever as I am sure these celebrities did. Eventually, everything we have ever put our bodies through comes back to haunt us. You don't think about it when you're doing it but over the years you learn to regret some of your decisions. I am always fascinated by the way people could dance in the movies back in the day and it just reminds me they are either old or dead now. I remember when Van Johnson died I felt like it wasn't all that long ago because I remember being bummed when I heard then I realized it has been about fifteen years since he died. Realizing how long ago it has been made me feel old myself. When I was in my 20s I just felt like I was going to be young forever because it goes by so slowly but also quickly at the same time. I am now in my mid-30s and I feel it most days. I actually took my back out for the very first time shortly after I hit 30 and it was kind of a realization that things were only going to get worse from there. I am not old but I can feel as age slowly sets in. I feel like once you hit 30 that's when you start to realize how quick life goes. Our bodies are starting to slow down a little not a lot granted but it's enough that we are realizing we can't do the same things we did in our 20s. I watched these young actors at the time doing all of these amazing things and then I saw them old and struggling to do half as much in their later years and it just hit me that they probably thought they'd always be young and nice looking and carefree only to have reality set in on them too. I remember watching an interview with Van Johnson and he was talking about how nice looking he was back in the day and then was like "Now everything sags" as he hit under his chin to help shapen it up. Looks fade and that's part of life. It's why my philosophy is to find someone you like and love and don't settle for a pretty face because inner beauty is all anyone will have eventually and sometimes that shines through to keep someone beautiful on the outside too long after their looks fade. No one stays young forever. We need to remember that when we are killing our bodies in the short term. We need to remember that when we are putting too much importance on looks and we need to remember that when we get cocky thinking we have forever.

I think we all have to accept the aging process because it is the natural way of things. You cannot expect to look young when you are over a certain age. However , you may be lucky enough to be able to look after yourself health wise so that you may still feel young on the inside, but even then you have to accept changes to the body as time goes on.

I think the issue is when we are young we don't think about how what we do now will hurt us later. I did a lot of stupid things as a kid that later came back to bite me and I now have back and knee issues. I often don't mentally feel my age but physically I feel older.

@sissy15 I can remember older people giving me advice on certain things but I did not take notice of them, but now I wish I had.

@lazydaizee That's the thing about being a kid you think you know everything. You think because it's not hurting you now it won't hurt you later. Kids ignore me now but I know later they'll wish they had listened. I deal with kids who think they know better than me all day and sometimes I get to witness the realization on their faces when they realize I was right but sometimes they won't realize it until years later. Kids can be cocky because they don't know what we know. sometimes ignorance is bliss.

getting old is a natural process. We just need to take care of ourselves more and take care of our health.
