I can't believe it; but it's happened again. A 14-month old little girl in Long Island has died after being left in a hot car for 8 hours. Her grandmother forgot to drop off her granddaughter at daycare and went on to work. This has to stop.
The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $1.25 billion. Do you have your tickets?
Cases of leprosy are on the rise in Florida. I didn't even know that there were cases of leprosy in the United States. Apparently there were 159 cases in 2020. Usually leprosy comes from people that have traveled abroad or from interacting with armadillos. The bulk of the cases are in Florida. Something else I didn't know is that leprosy can now be treated with antibiotics.
Here it is August 2. Some children are going back to school in 2 weeks which is hard to believe. Where has this year gone?
Breakfast - Belvita Oat Biscuits
Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Hawaiian chicken breast, rice, two servings of mixed vegetables, Mandarin oranges, fruit bar
Dessert/Snack - Blueberry muffin and decaf coffee
Dinner - Fish stick sandwich
What did you eat yesterday?

“They” say to “put something important” in the back seat so you won’t forget the kid. What on EARTH is more important than your kid?
Yesterday I had a BBQ sandwich at Mission BBQ, and it was infinitely better than the one that’s in town (which turned me off to that chain really quickly ). Dinner was a turkey sub.

Last summer, I was watching a news station and they were talking about the leaving your child in a hot car thing...and suggested the same thing--leave something really important in your back seat so you won't forget the child. Someone piped up and said, leave your PHONE. Because evidently in our misguided, idiotic society, a phone is more important. I have no words that can be typed here as to what I think of that idea.
The only food I can recall eating yesterday was a salad with romaine, tomatoes, cukes...oh, and I had a BLT because I had a big homegrown tomato to enjoy. I never, ever hardly have bacon, so that was a big treat for me.
Have a good day.

I feel like there is hope for better temperatures right around the corner (yesterday it was 102 degrees). And, I just can’t fathom hot car deaths. How do people get so absentminded that they forget about a human?
I had salmon, carrots, and green beans. That was it.

I have not followed the lottery in quite a while. But that's a lot of "Cabbage!" I guess if you're not in it you can't win it, so I need to get me some tickets, lol.

Hubby bought some tickets...we matched one number. Sigh. Lottery is up to $1.55 billion now.

My son goes back on the 21st, so still a little while...but it will be here soon.
Fish stick sandwich? That sounds interesting! I think you know what I had yesterday, shared that in a post.

@MommyOfEli2013 I think as far as dropping off kids before people go to work it might be a problem.

Such a cute fellow there in the photo. I fried up seasoned fries and chicken nuggets for a change in my pan.

Definitely tragic. With the intense heat in the western states, it shouldn't have happened.
About three weeks for our kids.
Your food looks good.
My food yesterday: Breakfast: hash brown potatoes with an onion, shredded cheese, Philly steak, and eggs, and a banana. Lunch - gyro and sweet potato fries at the restaurant. Calories were just within budget.

Children shouldn't be left with irresponsible grand parents.

Most of our schools have started already. I’m so glad that we didn’t go back until September when I was a child.

I still don't understand how anyone can forget they have a child in the car. These heat related deaths are so sad and totally preventable. I don't know how that grandmother will be able to live with herself.
I'm starting to see commercials for back to school. A few more weeks for the kids to go back here.
Last night I had fried chicken with sweet potatoes and broccoli
