Virtual world

The Internet has made it possible for us to be in a virtual world. I have been in one for years, meeting so many writers at so many Sites. When the Sites disappear or I stop visiting, those I have had interactions with disappear too. The virtual world has taught us to stay detached - live for the moment kind of situation. Atleast that is how I feel. What is your thought on this. Have you made real friends with whom you have had interactions at writing Sites that no longer exist? Do you still keep in touch?

I think that I have made real friends but in the virtual world nothing is too sure. And then that feeling has started touching my offline relationships and sometimes I feel that I´m just a survivor from another era.

Real life relationships are become scarce these days. Every one is busy in their own world.

@allknowing People relate more with their cellphones and their tablets than with real people

@marguicha I have noticed that. It is best that we have work that we love to do to keep us happily occupied.

I have brought friends with me when I move from site to site. There are several people on myLot that I brought with me when I migrated here from Bubblews and WebAnswers. Sometimes I email them if I haven't seen them online in a while, just to make sure they're doing okay.

That is true I have met a lot of people virtually around the net. I started with a pen pal like a friend in Italy before and we exchange emails before. But after some time when emails started to be adopted at work, our connection was somehow overshadowed by work emails. I know he was an artist who has an Indonesian partner there in Italy.

@allknowing Yeah I think when we started to use email for work they were set aside already and eventually lost touch.

There are a few I keep in touch with but mostly, like you say, they eventually fade away.

I have never met a virtual friend but I wish I could meet someone. I can't travel to meet someone but I would love to meet someone living nearby my place.

Within India and somewhere near you that should be possible. For that you have to initiate messaging

Here and even at other Sites it is possible who we are dealing with are different in their real world. No problem there as long as they do not violate Site rules.

From several sides, the virtual world for me is very dangerous. because there are so many scams in cyberspace. although through cyberspace there are many positive sides, but also many negative sides of cyberspace. so we must be smart and not easily fooled while in cyberspace. because the virtual world is not the real world, there are even a lot of plays in it.

You have a point there. I hardly visit FB as I know many there are telling lies
