Great news, but life still happens

Dale and I went to my breast cancer surgeon on Thursday for the results of my mammogram. He was smiling and said that the test showed no sign of cancer! God has been so merciful these past nine months. And I can never tell you all how much I appreciate your prayers and good wishes. They've helped me through some of the worst parts. The day after that I went to a foot surgeon and will probably have surgery for my ruptured toe tendon and to straighten my big toe. I really dread wearing a boot and what all for several months. It's so weird that my foot was in a lot of pain walking and I had just seen the foot surgeon last October, but before we could schedule surgery, cancer popped its evil head up. The whole nine months I was having surgeries, treatments, kidney stones and lots of pain, my foot didn't hurt at all. Maybe my brain just said, "We're dealing with much more serious issues here and your foot will just have to wait its turn." Anyway, I have so much to praise God for. Feet can be repaired (I hope!) Dale will hopefully be put on the schedule to preach soon. I'm practicing two songs...I haven't sung in nine months, so lots of practice going on. Thank you again, every one of you for your love and support. May God richly bless you.

We really count on our legs and our feet to get us around, and sometimes we take them for granted. I have such pain today in my ankle, probably from the humidity, but it feels like bone on bone. Hopefully tomorrow will be a much better day.

I'll pray for you, Julia. Sounds like that's a recurring problem.

@1creekgirl Thank you, it aches me terribly when I am on it much at all, which when I have the girls I have to be. I see the doctor in a couple of weeks, I am concerned.

@RebeccasFarm As bad as I dread the surgery, I want to get it over with before my friend from Scotland comes in November.

I probably didn't make myself clear. I saw the Orthopedic surgeon and she's ordering an MRI, then will know exactly what is needed. She knows she will repair the toe, but not exactly sure what she will do about the big toe.

@1creekgirl - I think you will need a few weeks before you can walk normally, but this also will pass.

Thanks, DE. It's just so strange to me that the day after my great report, my foot was killing me. But I'll trust God for this, too.

I am interested to know what songs you are practicing. Yes, our bodies seem to be selective about what we deal with at any one time. So glad for your good news.

I guess with all the other various pains, my foot pain didn't register. I'm planning to sing There is a Cross in Your Way and The Goodness of God.

That's great. I recently went a podiatrist. I had calluses on my feet. He scraped them off. My feet feel better now and I am now putting foot pads in all my shoes.

That's amazing that your foot hasn't been hurting so much while all the other treatment has been taking place. I hope these procedures so smoothly for you. And that's great news about the cancer-free results.

Thanks, Judy. It really is strange that it seldom hurt all those months and now it really hurts again to walk on it.
