Well That Was A Long Break!

It's been a while but it's nice to see many of the old (and some not so old) faces still around since I last set foot in these hallowed halls. Can websites be called halls? Can any website be described as hallowed? Is it possible to set foot in a website? Does any of that matter? I was shocked to find it's been over a year since I last contributed here. It certainly doesn't seem that long. Now I'm back I imagine many of you will find that time drags to such an extent that booking a one way ticket to Switzerland starts to look like an attractive option. (Can I say that so soon into my comeback discussion?) Hopefully I can catch up with some of my old sparring partners and maybe acquire a few new ones. To be honest, I'm only back because the weather has been so appalling in Manchester for the past couple of months and I've exhausted all of the more exciting ways of passing the time such as watching paint dry, having teeth pulled without anaesthetic and attempting, once again, to read Ulysses. The latest attempt was aborted at page 26 so my record of 51 pages still stands. I moved onto reading something far more coherent and interesting when I found a bunch of old grocery shopping receipts at the bottom of a bag for life. So entertain me people!!!!

Welcome back! I thought we'd misplaced you for good this time. Don't worry, it's still me. My daughter decided I needed a new avatar a few months ago so took a picture and created one for me... How have you and your beautiful wife been doing?

@WorDazza I've told you before that you can keep your beautiful wife happy by letting her come visit me sometimes. I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

@DaddyEvil Just send over the money for the air fare and I'm sure she'll be on the next plane!! Holiday was great thanks. We rented a villa and spent a week with our daughter and our son and his girlfriend. We don't get to spend too much time together as a family these days to our different locations.

Myself and Mrs. WorDazza are doing well. As for my beautiful wife, just don't tell Mrs. WorDazza about her!!! Just returned from a week in Cyprus where we encountered a strange yellow ball in the sky every day. The locals said it was something called the Sun.

@wordazza A long break indeed. Ulysses- the most rewarding literary experience I’ve ever had. And I’ve just finished Crime and Punishment tonight for the nth time. Only had one tooth pulled sans anaesthetic, and one filling on the kitchen table by a dentist whose drill was powered by my mother’s treadle sewing machine who gave me too much anaesthetic and knocked me out for the rest of the day. Good to hear from you.

I'm glad to see that you're still active here. Just come back from a week in Cyprus where my plan was to re-read Crime and Punishment while ensconced on a sun lounger by the pool. Unfortunately my son was supposed to bring it with him (he flew from London, we flew from Manchester) but forgot. Fortunately I took A Tale of Two Cities and the latest Jack Reacher (my guilty literary pleasure) as a back up! How's retirement suiting you?

@WorDazza Retirement isn't starting until the end of January unfortunately, and Jack Reacher shall be one of my companions when I get there.

Hello and welcome back. It is a lot of time for sure that I do not see you around and you have been missed. The site has glitches right now, not always the images upload and when they do they not always show up. Also the avatars disappear time by time. I hope this will be fixed.

I've already experienced the disappearing avatar. I thought maybe someone had travelled back in time and killed my parents before I was born thus erasing me from history!!

I remember you. I am not much for entertainment. I have just been persistent on my survey sites and getting some added income and gift cards I use for Amazon and Walmart. I have also been writing up a storm online for posting and doing my blogging. Glad to hear from you and hope you stay for a while,

@WorDazza Well that was just referring to the fact that what I do most of each day is sit and write and post at my PC but if you were here maybe I could manage a little tap dance just for fun

I don't know why but your comment "I am not much for entertainment" really tickled me and has provided me with entertainment whether or not you intended it to

@RasmaSandra Go for it. Post a video of you tap dancing. You could start a myLot trend.

And here I was thinking you had gone for good!! Welcome home. We have Ulysses sitting in the bookcase at home. I might try to read it one day - when I feel like I need a real challenge.

Sorry to disappoint you Judy Ulysses has been relegated to a box in the darkest recesses of the attic just in case I'm ever tempted to try again!

@JudyEv That's a fair point. I tend to alternate between a book I want to read and a book I think I should read (Ulysses being one such book). Perhaps I should rethink that strategy.

@WorDazza I'm sure I'll overcome the disappointment. And really, aren't we all getting too old to bother with certain books? We may not have a lot of time to waste.

Why read Ulysses when you can come here to read everyone's posts . But hopefully we will be far more interesting than your grocery receipts . Welcome back as you set foot in myLot again .
