Free Taxis for Drunks: Believe It or Not

I read an article saying that drunk people can have free taxi fares in Italy. Those who did not pass the test and went beyond the drunk driving limit will enjoy such a thing. It is a practice that is being condemned by some citizens. In their minds, why do they need to have this benefit? In the first place, they should be responsible for not drinking too much in nightclubs, especially if they are going to drive back home afterward. What is your side of this concern? If you drink, don't drive. If you drive, don't drink.

You have a point there. I am not sure if they sustain this idea.

services like this can cost a pretty penny. But, it may be worth it to prevent drunks from driving and causing accidents

I think there are always pros and cons to having this program. I am sure it will be questioned if it is implemented here.

When I was reading the article, it seems not logical to implement this.

Believe this is a FAKE news, all my family and relatives live in Italy and there is NO free taxi for drunks. HERE we have a free service to bring home drunk people to avoid that they drive and it's called "Nez Rouge", the same exists in France, but NOT in Italy.

I am trying to find more articles about it, to no avail. I guess the site that I am working with is having fake articles then.

@cacay1 You do not even get good services if you pay in Italy, imagine offering you something free, ridiculous!

This is also what I thought when reading the article. It seems that they are using the local people's money.

@Shavkat That's very. disgusting. Good thing our government still have its sense of sanity by not doing it. I don't see you on RIF lately. Are you on SCF?

That helps to avoid accidents. But seems unfair to the taxpayer.

This is what other locals are thinking. They are using the people's money to pay their taxes.

It is good to have taxi's for those who drink too much. Too many people get killed or maimed by drunk drivers.

I also think that it is fine. I would be great if they will pay it from their own pockets.

I prefer they get a ride as that is safer for everyone. They won't be wrecking and maybe killing an innocent person or family

This is one side of the idea for implementing it. I just felt bad if they became abusive with this kind of opportunity.

It is one of the reasons. I had read some more information and it was a trial program.

I don't think so, who would pay the gas if that drunk man lives too far. This is insane.

I just felt bad that they are implementing this. I am sure people who love clubbing will drink a lot and be sure that they can have fee rides by taxi.

I guess getting a free ride on a taxi after a person has been drunk is better than driving a car while drunk and either rubbing out someone or pulled over and spend time in jail. In our nation we have the designated driver rule.

It is also the same thing here. It will definitely be a big issue if they push through this here, even if they claim it is a dry run.
