I finished putting the crochet blanket together

Four more sleeps and we’ll be leaving this house-sit. I wrote about the knitted squares that I bought with me and how I was going to crochet them together to make a rug. The squares had been knitted by my friend’s mother who passed on some years ago. I didn’t really like the colours as they didn’t really go together well but I tried to arrange them in some sort of sequence. Originally I was going to use a pale blue to do the edging but I had enough of the darker colour and used that. I think it looks better with a dark edging rather than a pale one.

It's about 48" by 40". It's all packed away now and I can't be bothered getting up to measure it but 48' x 40' wouldn't be far out.

That's pretty blanket. Surely it won't be used as a rug.

To me, blanket and rug are pretty much synonymous but no, it won't be put on the floor.

I've done it for a friend. Her mother, who passed away a few years ago, knitted all the squares and I just put them together and added an edging. I'll give it back to her a few days.

One of my grandmothers used to make similar knitted squares with little dabs of yarn she had left from making something. Of course, they didn't go together, but she joined them all and made blankets for her family. A rug or a lap blanket or something similar is about all I can think to do with them. It will be nice. Looks good to me!

Even though the colors are kind of random the big blocks of strong colors is very attractive. You did a lovely job joining them.

Thanks for the kind words. I've used the light colour to join the squares but the dark colour looks best as an edging.

I prefer crocheting to knitting. It 'grows' much faster and is easier to unpick. I'm glad you like it.
