Walking + Texting = Danger

It sounds like common sense that walking while texting can endanger ourselves. The obvious fact is still being ignored by some people. A perfect example is my friend, who was hit by a car for this reason. It was a big lesson for him, and he promised not to text while mobilizing on foot. A study had proposed a feature called 'texting lock.' The main function is to lock the mobile phone if it is detected that the user is texting while walking.
What do you think about this proposed new feature?
Did you know someone who put himself or herself in danger in this kind of situation?

I would disable that feature. I walk and text in the house or in stores all the time. If my phone wasn't functional, I'd return it and get my money back. Anyone who walks in the street and texts deserves to get hit by a vehicle.

@DaddyEvil Actually, he got a leg fracture at that time. It was a big lesson.

@Shavkat As long as he wasn't hurt too badly, then he should learn a lesson and that will make the lesson stay with him.

Goodness, what an awful thing to happen to your friend, but I hope he learned his lesson as well that his safety comes first before anything else. How's he doing?
I also see some videos of people running into poles or bumping to other people because they are too busy doing something on their phones to pay attention to where they're walking. If it's really important, they can move to the side, stop, and finish whatever it is that cannot wait then they can start walking again.

A lot of people are doing this. They should know it's dangerous.
