Not really. They would be the ones that know the most about you. Especially, relatives - they have access to most of the questions you would have to answer and possibly ssn. What shocks me is that they would be 'able' to do this to a good friend or family member.
I could never ever do that to someone I loved or truly cared a lot about. But it does happen and I guess the ones doing it just don't have a conscious.

No, it doesn't surprise me because it happened to my mom. Nothing major, just put a bad mark on her credit which is now gone. My brothers ex-girlfriend/mother of his kids did it.

It does, that is weird. Why would anyone close to you do such a thing? I wonder.

it doen't surprise me really, because I mean those are the people that have the easiest access to ur personal information. I know of 2 people that have been viticms of ID theft by their own parents! i would never think to use my child's information for my own personal griditfication.

I work at a very large bank, I am a supervisor there and I see it everyday! I see children taking life savings from thier parents, i hear over and over, oh johnny would never do this to me... It is sad, please educate everyone you know, and please buy everyone a shreder for Christmas! They really help

With my family, anything is possible, and nothing comes as a surprise anymore. But no, I never knew this fact.

It does seem odd. You'd think people would know that if someone's identity was stolen, the people who had easiest access to the info would be prime suspects.
Maybe these thieves aren't so bright, or they're blinded by greed.

I had a family member get to credit cards in my name. She did tell me about it, but I just couldn't turn her in. She had way too many good things that the did for me.

Actually no it doesn't. I know my sister's ex tried to do this before they were even married. We didn't find out until after the divorce. Long story but they weren't married long. He was a con man from the word go. Some peopl I guess will do anything for money and objects. Just goes to show you can't trust everyone.
