Welcome to September

When I lived in England I felt sorry when September arrived because it meant that the warm days were over. I live in Greece now and this year I am relieved that the hot days are gradually cooling. This summer has been the hottest one in my life and I have lived in Africa and the Far East! The summer was plagued with wild fires. This means that everyone living in the countryside is worried about fires arriving on our doorsteps. Literally so. This year so far the fires have not hit my area, but two years ago one did and we had to leave the house with very little time to spare. It was a long night waiting to see what the morning would bring. In our case the wind had changed and we had been spared. I spent the night in a car park with my old cat. It was the longest night in my life. Welcome September.
