The best value theatre programme!

Earlier this year we all went to see a theatre production of Jules Verne’s ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. It was a sort of circus-type of performance which was quite fun, although they did rather overdo the ‘virtue signalling’ which grated somewhat. Anyway we picked up a programme, although usually I find that theatre programmes are not worth the cost, being mainly a cast list and maybe a bit about the director’s vision with perhaps a few pictures of costume designs. This one though was an exception as it had rather more detail about everything than the usual, plus an article about the author and another about the first real journey which sought to emulate the fictional one. And it had a double page spread of ’80 facts from around the world’. The programme was just lying around the house when some friends who are currently staying picked it up, found the pages of facts and started quizzing us on them over breakfast. It kept us entertained for about an hour trying to guess the answers – great fun! Probably the best value theatre programme I have ever come across!

That sounds pretty cool, from the production to the program. And, I’m sorry I wrote program, but if I had written programme I would have felt like an American trying to be a wannabe European.

OK here's a question for you - what region of the world has the most caves?

@Fleura Without looking it up, I’m just going to blindly guess South America.

It did have us all laughing. We hardly got any of the answers right. Do you know the city with the longest name in the world?

I've actually seen it in the theatre twice, a few years apart. Both were good fun but the first was the best!

You have been lucky, because I agree that most of the time the theatre programmes are not worth the cost.

We don't find them good value either - usually - but it's hard to resist buying them at the time.

We saw the movie, "Around the World in 80 Days" when it first came out; and my parents purchased the book (it was a program but an actual book) of the movie. Unfortunately it's been lost over the years. I'm glad you had fun with the trivia from the show. Have a good day.
