Two Springfield Missouri Police Officers whose names were not released answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen on Wednesday evening to chase down a lemur who was running loose in the Kimbrough and Woodland area.
The two police officers had help from "a couple of kind citizens." who assisted the police officers to corner the lemur and then the police officers were able to capture the animal by wrapping up the animal with a blanket.
The owners of the lemur then contacted the police to thank them for rescuing the lemur.
The problem was that lemurs are forbidden in the city limits of Springfield. The owners of the lemur had to give up their pet to the police who then took the lemur to a local wildlife rescue where they will take care of the lemur.
As far I know I have never heard of lemurs in the Springfield Missouri before this post on this site.

I have no idea where this lemur came from in the first place.

@RebeccasFarm I know what you mean since lemurs are not that well known in the animal world.

Your picture posted! Yay! I'm glad they captured the lemur; but I'm sorry that it had to be taken from the owners.

I was thinking the same thing that the owners of the lemur did not mean to cause any harm by having a lemur as a pet in the first place.

Sad that they had to give up their pet. They should have checked to see if they could have such a pet before getting it. Very sad.

As far as I know lemurs are good pets to have.

I wonder if the owner's copped a fine too. They should not have kept such an exotic animal, without the right permissions, as it is not good for the animal either.

The owners of the lemur was likely fined by the city officials.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, some limitations/regulations are good to save some people from themselves doing things not good for others, including for animals.
