Onion cutting is a common kitchen task that often makes us cry. What techniques have you found most effective in preventing tears when chopping onions, and have you encountered any unique or unconventional methods that work for you? Additionally, do you think there will be future innovations to eliminate onion-induced crying in the kitchen, whether through new gadgets, genetic modifications, or culinary techniques? Or in case, I've been living under a rock... are there innovative cry-reduction technology already? :)

I peel onions, cut them in slices then criss cross to cut them in smaller pieces.

The only technique that works is placing the onion that have to be cut in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. No more crying, believe me that this works.

Someone did mention placing them in the fridge for a couple of hours. So I am guessing, cooling helps a lot?
