Do you believe that as a result of the internet, the gap between the rich and the poor is growing or narrowing?

In my view, it does not show any gaps between the rich and poor in using the Internet. We can share our thoughts freely here. Of course, we also need to consider the site's rules. It does make sense that gender equality is evident, at least online. In the real world, there are still some gaps between them. What is your stand on this concern?

I think the internet will make the gap smaller. As the internet is an easy way for the poors and riches to get in touch with each other.

@Shavkat In the past there was a famous saying: On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog So it gives everyone a fair platform.

You have a point. It can serve as the bridge between them.

The gap is widening between the rich and poor but I don’t know if the internet has anything to do with it.

In my view, it can be distinguished offline. For example, some students in an isolated area cannot access to the Internet or the school cannot afford to avail the fees of the internet service provider.

@RubyHawk Yes, my friend. They do not have computers to use. It was a big challenge during the pandemic for these students.

That it's a non-issue. Online or off, unless a person makes it obvious, you don't know their finical state.

I agree with you. Unless someone will going to flaunt their status virtually. If it does happen, it is another story.

@Shavkat I see the same offline, too. For example I come off as poor, but I have an Apple Watch. An iPhone and a MacBook Air M1. those things aren't cheep by any means. However, they are more affordable than one might think. I also own my home free and clear.

How would you know on the internet if someone is rich or poor.

It's not because of the Internet that the gap between rich and poor is widening. It is more the "modern technology" that is causing the problem. New technology risks widening the gap by shifting more investment to advanced economies where automation is already present and to cut out more poor countries.

You are right. I also think that under develop counties can afford to have this kind of service. I had seen how locals in Tajikistan cannot access the Internet because of their poor condition.

@Shavkat - Some countries cannot evolve if they do not have access to the modern technology.

I don't think the internet has anything to do with it. But the gap is getting wider

In my country, it happens that some locals in poor condition cannot have the chance of using the internet, especially those who are living in far-flung areas.

In my opinion, gender equality doesn't exist. So many men hate women and many women hate men. Online we can see this.

I also can feel and sense this online. Discrimination still exists when dealing different types of people, either online or offline.

The gap between the rich and the poor is for one reason and one reason only. The rich know how to make money and the poor do not. It's as simple as that.

the gap between rich and poor does not have anything to do with internet. Everybody can have their internet.so I do not consider internet a factor in determining whether you are rich or poor

I think it is possible when it comes for students studying in public or private schools in my country. It is most likely private schools can have this service. I am not sure if it happens to other countries.
