There is an attractive seaside village in Norfolk, it is Burnham on Sea Wealthy Londoners have holiday homes there and wriggle out of paying council tax on all the properties. It isn't fair on the locals as when these people go back to London there are too many properties going to waste. I have a link Would you be angry if the wealthy invaded your town?
EXCLUSIVE: Wealthy Londoners flock to Burnham Market to stay in weekend homes or holiday rentals, eager to take advantage of the nearby unspoiled countryside.

Burnham on Sea is the place where we used to go on holiday every year! Except I thought it was in Somerset?

@Gilljane Yes, it is rather. We liked to walk along the front, then go shopping.

@gilljane Second home owners are a problem here too. Locals can’t get to buy houses often because wealthy outsiders have pushed up the prices. Won’t change.

That is such a shame, My modest house has an eye watering value. It's because of the ease of travelling in to London.

It does surprise when one sees wealthy folks managing to save taxes when others like us often have taxes on earnings even up to 5k or 10k units. Since last few days, even our 400 to 500 Rupees profits on Crypto are being taxed. The pretext : Crypto earnings can be used for Terror Funding. And the Government assumes that with a 400 or even 1000 Rupees profit, a stressed, busy and tired middle class guy would fund terrorists!! I think things would be similar in UK. I was reading an article that said that when pensions of many kind of ordinary folks can be stopped, then why do politicians who get so many perks when they are the elected members of Councils, Assemblies or Parliament get pensions and other post term benefits? Not a fair world for sure !!

You are correct. It is similar in the UK. Politicians are corrupt and they do get a lot of perks

Yes, I would. 7 Km from us the famous and wealthy are buying properties on the Lake Como. This happened after George Clooney bought a house there and he invites famous people all the time- The locals are not happy at all.

@Gilljane But lots of it, I am sure. And any amount is better than zero. Unless my math is wrong. lol It's like a seasonal destination like Wisconsin Dells or Branson, MO. They make all their money in the summer and nothing really in the off season, but what they make during the peak pays for the entire year.

@porwest It's not just a question making money, (I'm all for that). These people have made house prices unaffordable to many. My house is worth an eye watering amount because of the easy of getting in to London. People looking to buy in my road couldn't afford it and they are not poor
