Do You Like Water?

Water...H2O. So much has been written about water. How we are polluting it; how much we should drink, etc. Much of the universe's water was produced as a bi-product of star formation. I won't bore you with the details; but our planet had water approximately 4.4 billion years ago. Our bodies contain 55-78% water depending on body size. The human body requires enough water to function normally and to prevent dehydration while considering activity, temperature, humidity, etc. There have been countless articles written about how much water we should drink -- so many glasses per day, some can come from food, all of it should come from water, soda and coffee don't count, so many conflicting theories. I read one theory that said not to worry about how many glasses of water you should have...if you urinate often and the color is close to clear or a light lemon color, you are getting enough water. But don't drink too much! You can get water intoxication (hyperhydration) which can result in death. More than 660 million people do not have access to safe drinking water. Frogs are said to be able to smell water. I never drink enough water. If I'm not thirsty, I don't drink it. I just don't care for it. Many times my lab tests come back showing that my kidney function is not normal and that I need to drink more water! How about you? Do you like water? Do you drink enough water? What theories about water consumption have you heard? Photo Credit: Pixabay - A drop of water falling into a pool of water.

I don't like plain water so have to put some type of flavoring in it. I add a little lemon or lime juice to my water so it doesn't taste like water. I drink about a gallon a day... and my lab tests still show I'm not getting enough water. *sigh*

A gallon a day isn't enough? That's so strange.

I drink like a fish all day long, and I don't get enough water either. I always feel like I'm in a constant state of dehydration. Probably because I drink so much coffee. Whenever I go out to restaurants, I can't drink plain water; like you, I have to have some type of flavoring in it (lemon mostly). But at home I can drink water plain, as long as it's ice cold.

I am just like you, if I am not thirsty I am unable to drink, I feel sick if I do. I like to drink water and it's my only drink during the day, but I only drink if I am thirsty. I think my body knows better.

@LindaOHio I talked to several doctors, usually if we do not feel thirsty our body do not need that too much extra water that is now suggested to drink all day long. Too much water dilutes the minerals in our body and i's hard on our kidneys.

It is OK, but it is not a favored beverage. I mostly drink it because it is good for you...or if I am really thirsty.

I like our water but not city or bottled water. A friend of mine was the same way. She thought she didn't like water. Then she tried my well water. They add to many chemicals to water

My doctor told me how much water I should drink a day. No more than three bottles. Many times, I don't drink that much. I only drink filtered water.

We have a filtered water pitcher and we only drink the filtered water. That is the only thing that I give to my cats. @just4him.

I do not prefer it so I usually drink diet soda. Sometimes tea, occasionally flavored water. Very rarely plain water

I only drink water (not pop, not soft drinks) in the amount that my body needs. My body knows best, I donĀ“t count the amount I drink.

I can't drink room temperature water. I have to drink it cold, or else I just don't like it. I force myself to drink water throughout the day so I don't suffer from dehydration. Otherwise, coffee would probably be my only liquid consumption throughout the day! lol. Thankfully, I have a water cooler right by my desk at work, so I can access ice cold drinking water all day long.

@LindaOHio Ours is pretty tasty. I keep the cooler cleaned and sanitized. The company that brings us the bottles that go in the water cooler sources it locally from one of our crystal clear springs.

I do like to drink water. I also like coconut water and barley water. Yesterday I finished 2 liters of barley water. I just love to drink it. Barley water has many health benefits but I drink it mainly because I like its mild nutty taste.

I have never been one to drink the recommended daily dose of water, I am more of a mild and coffee drinker myself. But it is a natural resource that nobody should take for granted and that all of us should work to help keep clean and unpolluted.

Water is something I forced myself to drink more of years ago after becoming hospitalized for severe dehydration. It wasn't that I didn't drink a LOT of liquids. I just drank very little water and it almost took me out. I drink as much as I can every single day anymore.
