How MyLot will help me make around $17.15 today alone!

I still pay a few of my bills by check. I ordered some new checks from Very Large Bank the other day. I later discovered that, to my surprise, I was charged $17 for 40 checks.
A little research revealed that the $17 was for "expedited shipping," which I had not asked for. It turns out that Very Large Bank subcontracts their check-making to a third party.
That third party did what many companies do to make extra money. They signed me up for something I did not ask for. Many people will not pursue when Corrupt Third Party Entities try to rip them off. That's a part of what they do.
I called Very Large Bank this morning and got through to someone who spoke English. She reversed the charges and said she would let Very Large Bank know what Corrupt Third Party Entity had done.
So, along with my earnings from MyLot, I will have an extra $17.15 or so to spend on things like guitar strings and ice cream.
Do you try to "toot your horn" when someone tries to rip you off?

When I discover it, I do. And here, too less people are speaking as I do as compared to what happened years ago. It is still Spanish, but the accent belongs to other countries. Sometimes I wonder if the anger that Chilean have at not earning money is because jobs are taken by other people.

@TheHorse Some years ago I had a big problem with an American airline. As I could not get what I wanted, I wanted my money back. The person in the phone has a horrible English with a worse accent. I lost my patience. I told her that I wsanted to speak with a Native speaker as she did not speak English well and me neither. Finally an American person came to the phone and I could have what I wanted

@marguicha I am glad that you were able to get through to someone who could help you. It's (in my experience) sometimes not so much that they cannot speak English, as that they cannot understand English. It may be the same with other languages.

I just had a similar experience with our very large bank. I paid off our credit card balance, then they tried to tell me we owed $75 for some kind of weird interest. I told them they gave me the pay off amount, I paid it, and that's all they were getting from me. They deleted it.

Checks? Seriously? lol. I have some checks somewhere but who the hell knows where they are? But I generally only ever issue checks directly from the bank through bill pay. That being said, I am not sure I would ever pay that much for checks, even with expedited shipping. But I guess if you still use them, it works. But 40 checks? I used to pay $8 for 200 of them.
How the world has changed. I blame Biden.
As for the tactics you described, that irritates me to no end. I remember once buying a whizzleydoodle or something like that from TV. It sliced, diced, chopped, grated and added a membership to a "shopping service" that showed up on my card statement a year later for $99. Luckily I got it cancelled quickly.
As for the whizzleydoodle? It fell apart when I tried to slice a carrot on the damn thing.

I have done a few times.
Yet a few things are pending which are likely to be in a semi legal domain and that would involve some complicated and cumbersome procedures.
At times, Financial Institutions have these tendencies in the name of T & C, Operational obligations and other technical jargon.
Often courts come out with rulings against such practices but the entities like banks often overlook them or try to exploit the loopholes.
Glad that your $17 are back with you.
Ice Cream would be a good choice because having it after the winter sets in won't be a good idea.

The cable company rips us off every day. I keep calling them; but they keep raising our rates. I'm glad the bank reversed the charge. Enjoy your weekend.

@TheHorse And it doesn't matter which company you go with because they're all out of sight.
