My husband has bone-on-bone arthritis in both knees. He is almost 90 and doesn't want to do surgery if he can help it. The surgeon agreed with him that he thinks trying anything that is as non-invasive as surgery is worth a try.
So this month he is going to try Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA).
He has to go in for 2 different test shots, at least 2 weeks apart first, then he can have the ablation done. He can only do one knee at a time, so that means this whole process for both knees will take 3 months.
Apparently, they put a needle in his knees in different areas and kill the nerves so the pain will stop. We are hopeful this will help his pain.
Have you ever heard of this procedure or had it done?

The doctor can definitely give the best advice. Surgery at this age is cery risky

My friend has just had a knee replacement. It's been pretty painful but she is getting there now. I do hope this helps your husband.
