Catching up with a couch-surfer / myLot

This evening, we’re going out to the airport to pick up a lady who we first met as a couch-surfer about 15 or more years ago. She was originally from Germany but now has Australian citizenship. She has been living in Darwin on the north coast for some years but now has a new job as a fly in/fly out (FIFO) laboratory worker on one of the mines in the Pilbara in the far north of our state. She will be looking for accommodation in Perth as she’ll be working three weeks on the remote mine site then have one week off. We’re not sure how long she’ll be staying but we’re looking forward to catching up with her again.

It would be a good meet. The job sounds tough but perhaps the week off could be helpful. I wonder if she would stay on Rent on lease because buying own place in transit mode can be a problem.

She is very undecided about what she'll do. She has a house in Darwin but she will keep it until she decides if she likes this new position or not. Later she might sell it and buy a house in Perth.

Yes, she flies out on Thursday. While she is here, she is looking for accommodation for the weeks she'll be off-site.

She is staying till Thursday and hopefully tomorrow she'll be looking at a place where she might be able to stay.

Couch-surfing is an organisation whereby young people can sleep on a couch or wherever for nothing or next to nothing. It's mostly for young people who want to travel but don't have much money. There are older people in it too. We're not in it any longer but we hosted quite a few young people over the years.
