Does one size fit all?

I ordered some slippers that said they were one size fits all, and I had my doubts about that. So, when they came, and I tried them on, I wasn’t completely surprised they almost didn’t encompass my size 11 1/2 feet. When I wrote a review, I made mention any feet bigger than mine should find different slippers, and companies should be more stingy with the one size fits all claim.
Have you ever had an issue with one of those one size fits all products?

One size fits all shoes/slippers seems unrealistic somehow. I mean...everyone's feet are different!
A friend once bought a one size fits all shirt at Walmart(first mistake, but yes, that's only my opinion). She sent me a picture of the shirt, with her, and her 2 young children, ALL inside the shirt! It was like a tent you would camp out in! I think you would have to weigh a gazillion pounds to fill up a shirt like that. But, it was pretty funny to see all 3 of them in the same shirt!

In my young adulthood ai was good at one size fits all and most things fit, Now I prefer to be comfortable and often order xxx sizes just for plenty of room,

They are fine to wear around the house for a couple of hours. I just expected them to be more fluffy if you know what I mean, but they are very clingy. The good thing is that because the material is so soft it doesn’t hurt or anything. There just isn’t any “give”.

Feet is too good to believe

@amitkokiladitya Me too. I was convinced I couldn't wear them, but maybe I am just used to loose slippers.

That's definitely misleading. I too have a bigger foot compared to Indian female population and I don't get much choices. I have started doing most of the shopping online, but not for my footwears. I can't buy one without trying it.

@arunima25 I just can’t find my size in an actual, physical store, that I can afford. There used to be a chain of shoe stores that were affordable, and I could try them on. The pandemic closed them all down.

@AmbiePam Even when size fits, we all have our own comfortable choice. I need to feel that comfort before purchasing it.

I can see it with things like socks - they can stretch quite well. Maybe with some other clothing like dresses, which may just fit differently depends on size.
I'm not sure how one size footwear could fit all, unless they're made entirely of elastic or suchlike.
Ive never had trouble myself with that sort of thing. I have had occasions where things have come up much bigger or smaller than expected. I also have a pair of gloves that look really tiny (think toddler sized) but actually do fit my hands (which aren't huge but definitely bigger than most toddler hands).
I so think that the one size fits all claim is a tricky one. I guess they go by an average but don't take into account those who are above or below whatever average measurements they use.

The material is really stretchy on the slippers, but when you put them on, the material kind of clings to the foot like memory foam. I put them on last night, and they weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. I still wouldn’t get another pair though.

They need to say "one size fits most". I would not try that with shoes, even slippers. Sometimes I can get away with it for gloves.

It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought. I wore the slippers two hours last night when my feet got cold, and although it was a tight fit, they didn’t hurt like I thought they would. I still wouldn’t recommend them, and feet bigger than mine won’t fit, but I learned a lesson, and it didn’t turn out as bad as I thought. My standards might also be decreasing.

Not sure, one thing I have seen before though is one size fits most. Now that is a more realistic claim.

They really should use exact sizing for slippers. Some outfits from China were obviously designed for tiny Chinese girls, not us.

Not for shoes. Socks do have a range where it fits most people and I've bought watches with adjustable Velcro bands where one size will work. Also, baseball hats which I have use adjustable Velcro straps or different diameter settings which will fit all.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else. One thing which aggravates me about sizing is clothing. I sometimes am unsure about buying a medium or large item. I've had mediums that fit great in the store, but once you wash them they shrink. Have you ever had that problem?

My friend bought me such a cute T-shirt. Washed it once, and suddenly it is half the size. Ugh. They really should have a sign that warns to buy more than one because the quality is so poor it’s going to be the size of a child after it is washed.

@AmbiePam Yes, your right about that! Sometimes a good deal turns out not to be so.

I have not had a problem with this because I am a size 5 which seems to be an average size for a woman. The problem I get when shopping for footwear is that size 5 is so popular that , in the sales, there are never any size 5 left. There are plenty of fours and sixes but all the fives have been taken.

Magic slippers? As one tries to get in them they automatically either increase or decrease in size (lol)

Not really. If something is marketed as gender neutral, it's often easier to figure out the sizing. Anything marketed for women on the other hand. Even help me.

I usually figure that anything over a size 7, you need to be cautious when ordering one-size-fits-all. My feet have grown from a 7B to a 9-1/2 wide because I wear flip flops all the time. I probably would look for slippers by size for my big feet. Sorry yours didn't fit. Have a good Sunday.
