Cheesy Scrambled Eggs

I really wanted fried chicken while the wife is out of town on a gambling trip with her cousin. But at the same time, I'm like, I have all this food in the house. Why spend the money? I chopped up some onion and sliced up some hot dogs. Added in my eggs, some shredded cheese, a little bit of pepper and voila! Dinner is served. Just a little drizzle of ketchup on top and I would say my meal is complete and I will have enough for tonight and a little bit leftover to have for lunch tomorrow. I know ketchup is a bit controversial on eggs. But I like it, so that's all that matters. What went on your dinner table tonight?

We may have to part ways over the egg Ketchup debate, but you are so right...it doesn't matter what other people say. For some reason my husband thinks putting Ketchup on fried potatoes is odd, but he puts it on French fries.

@porwest Basically that is how we are with steak. Just the steak please, no sauces.

The ONLY thing I ever really get my panties all in a bunch over is when I see someone put ketchup on a steak. Then I want to stab them. lol At the same time if I ever order a steak and they ask me if I want sauce, I usually tell them, "If I need sauce you can have your steak back."

@GardenGerty I mean, if I get a steak at Denny's, okay fine. Shame on me for ordering a steak with expectations. But that would be the only scenario. lol

The difference to me is that ketchup is too sweet compared with most tomatoes.

It does. It's delicious. Just love it. It is often funny to me that people will often eat eggs with tomato, but as soon as you suggest ketchup they frown. Makes no sense. lol

@rebelann I guess that could be true. Still. But as they say, to each their own. Some people swear by a Hawaiian pizza even if I think the entire idea is an abomination. lol

I do like vegetable omeletts, or just scrambled eggs with a few veggies--onions, chopped bell pepper, chopped tomato, whatever. I am not a ketchup person. I love tomatoes and use a lot of them, either eaten in a salad, just sliced, or made into whatever. Not sure why, I just don't care for it. It's all about preference.

It is like I always say about grocery stores. They would not be as big as they are if we all liked the same things.

@porwest And in today's world, I often think we have too many choices. Want to buy salad dressing in a bottle at the store? There are about a zillion different choices of flavors, sizes, and brand names and house brand names. That's just one example, but you know what I mean. Some things are just too 'over the top' and no one needs the choice of 20+ kinds of sizes, etc. of some items.

@MarieCoyle I narrow it down by price usually. The cheapest thing on the shelf is usually what winds up in my cart. Not always. But most of the time that's true.

@kareng Well shucks. That's no fun. Quickies can be. lol Speaking of "family" things, have you seen the contents of some PG-13 stuff? It would make Andrew Dice Clay blush.

I would eat that - minus the ketchup . I did have a friend who ate her scrambled eggs with ketchup and soy sauce. We're having leftover Thai yellow curry (homemade!) with rice.

@porwest I am Asian and even I think it's strange to have soy sauce on scrambled eggs (but it makes sense to have eggs in rice with soy sauce for fried rice ). But tomatoes and ketchup are different. Tomatoes are whole foods . . . ketchup is processed and loaded with sugar.

Now, soy sauce would seem strange to me on eggs. But I also cannot knock it. Ketchup is VERY good on eggs. I often find it strange that people scoff at it. A LOT of omelets have tomatoes in them.

It is definitely a throwback from when I was a kid. I was pleasantly surprised when I met my wife she said she liked ketchup too, and actually asked me to make scrambled eggs with hot dogs like "her mom used to make when she was kid." Ah. It was a match made in Heaven. lol

Ketchup? Thank goodness I have a gold-encrusted vomitorium here. Just for your knowledge base: a place in which, according to popular misconception, the ancient Romans are supposed to have vomited during feasts to make room for more food.

It's just one of those things that people either absolutely love or absolutely hate. It's like the pineapple on a pizza argument. It's either delicious or blasphemous. lol
