Day 91
John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me, you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a withered branch; gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it will be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so, you will be My disciples. 9 As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master does; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another. 18 If the world hates you, you know it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore, the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they would also persecute you. If they kept My word, they would keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ 26 But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 You also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”
Gardeners work to grow a beautiful garden. Plants need pruning and nourishing to bear fruits, vegetables, and flowers. A garden left unattended bears nothing. You know the love poured into a beautiful garden. It flourishes.
Jesus called Himself a vine and His Father the gardener. The Father prunes the vine, gets rid of the withered branches, and burns them. Jesus called people who followed Him, branches. Those branches either bore much fruit, or they withered and died. The Father cuts off all the withered branches and burns them.
People who call themselves Christians must bear fruit. You can only bear fruit when you study God’s Word to know what His desire is for you. God’s Word is your nourishment. From it, you eat and drink from the feast of His Word. God pours His love into you so that you will grow and bloom, bearing much fruit.
If you do not spend time in God’s Word, eating and drinking from its pages, you will not receive proper nourishment. You will wither and die. God will prune you from the Vine and cast you into everlasting fire.
Jesus told His disciples He was the vine and His Father the gardener so their joy would be full. He told them He called each of them to bear fruit for Him. As the vine, He provides nourishment so they would grow into beautiful plants full of fruit. In the same way, Jesus pours His love into you. He carefully chose you to become a plant of rare beauty, full of fruit. When you respond to His love and care, you will bloom and bear much fruit. When you do, you will know boundless joy.
Do you spend time in God’s Word, studying it? Or is the Father getting ready to prune you from the Vine because you haven’t opened His Word to know what it says? Jesus chose you for a purpose. Fulfill your purpose and bloom for Him. Bear fruit so that the Father won’t prune you from the Vine.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word fill me to overflowing so I bear much fruit. Nourish me with Your love, tend me as a tender plant, and prune those things in me that don’t bear fruit. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

@LindaOHio You don't go to Hell for not studying the Bible. However, when you don't study it, you don't know what Jesus can do for you. That leaves you lost and without salvation until someone tells you about His love for you. Then you have a choice to either accept or reject what they tell you. It is only in rejecting Jesus as Savior and Lord that you go to Hell.
Jesus told them that if they were Christians in name only, they wouldn't bear fruit. Their lives would be nothing. In the end, He would tell them He never knew them and cast them into Hell.
Have a blessed day.

Yes, the purpose of every life, is to bear fruit for God.
A branch that does not receive the spirit of nourishment, from prayer, and reading scripture, does wither away, and die.
We need to stay alive to God, and his love, to bear fruit in this world, and the next, for him.
The world cannot nourish us to do this, only the truth, of God, supplied to us directly, from prayer, dreams sometimes, and scripture reading, can do this for us.
