Movie: The Warriors The Warriors was released in 1979 and is rated R for violence, language and adult content. The Warriors is about a gang who is framed for the murder of a respected gang leader and their attempt to get from the northern side of the Bronx to their home turf in Coney Island in the southern part of Brooklyn. While it was not a big box office hit for a few reasons, it did grow a cult following over the years. While the Warriors released in early February 1979, the following weekend due to vandalism and violence Paramount Pictures stopped the advertisement of the movie and offered theaters out of their obligations to show the movie if they choose not to play the movie. Over 200 theaters added additional security and Paramount offered to pay for this security. After a few weeks Paramount started to advertise again and by its sixth week The Warriors had grossed $16.4 million over its estimated $6 million budget. The movie has since been released on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, and is currently available for streaming. If you decide to watch it, remember it was made in 1979, the quality of the film is that of a movie made in 1979. I can not even get into all the mistakes made in the movie, from shadows from the production crew, production crew seen in the background, extras in one angle of the shot and then the next second they are gone. Over all I liked the movie and seen it many times, but certainly it is not for everyone.

I have not watched this movie, I cannot say that I like violence, well for that it's enough to watch the news right now.

Hi Bensen! I haven't seen it. But sometimes movies from the 70's are fun to watch, even with the old-school mistakes. Like Halloween 1 for example, the original. I think it was filmed in the late 70's. I watched a documentary on the making of that one, and they said they were working on a VERY low budget, yet it's still one of the most popular scary movies up to date. Fun fact: The setting is supposed to be in Illinois, yet they filmed it in California. They said if you look verrrry closely, you'll see a palm tree in the background in one of the scenes. I have yet to find that palm tree. But I'm still looking for it. I'll be so happy when I spot that palm tree.

Yeah, there were some good movies made back then with some original ideas. The original Halloween was made in 1978 and yes, the setting is in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. I remember so well because I lived in Illinois most of my life and thought to myself back then, where is Haddonfield. lol Well, here is a couple other clues for you that it was filmed in California, check the license plates on the cars. When Dr. Loomis is on the pay phone talking to someone at the mental institution look in the background and see the mountains. Illinois does not have mountains. As for the palm trees, there are actually quite a few in the movie, the most obvious one is in the front yard of Michael Myers house. Halloween is filled with mistakes.

@Bensen32 I'll have to take a better look. Are you talking about the palm trees that grow close to the ground like Spindle Palms or the regular big palm trees? Those are the ones I keep looking for. I'm sure it will be on again soon AMC Fear Fest

@Melanie_Marie I'm pretty sure both are seen in different scenes.

Not what I would call a popular movie.

I remember my older cousin took me to see the movie and I thought it was interesting from the first time I seen it, and I can't remember how many times I have seen it since, but I am sure it's a lot.
