Delayed

Bob would not quit reading his library book so we could go to his appointments. And he tried to avoid road construction that probably was completed a week ago. So we went the long way around. He ended up in territories he did not know, and would not listen to me or to Google.
We were late. I fixed it by phone. Called, they rescheduled later in the day. I also called the second appointment that was for an opportunity to take part in a medical study. They also accommodated us.
We had been told that the appointment was for a cystoscopy, and that is why I went. Nope. They gave us the findings from his CT scan. Talked about the types of things that went on when he had to go to the ER twice. Took a urine sample and his annual PSA blood test. After this APRN talks with the urologist, and they get the tests back then they will decide if a cystoscopy is needed. Oh, they asked the yearly wellness questions, "Do you feel safe at home?" "Do you ever think of killing yourself?" "Do you use tobacco, alcohol or other substances?" "Have you had a flu shot?" He did get a pneumonia shot.
I would not have taken the day off if I had known this was what we were going for. Bob did not need me along for this at all.
When we were all finished, we went out to eat. Then shopped a bit at Aldi. I have been lazy since I have been home.
I think my bed time needs to not be delayed.

Delays suck, but I can understand how it can be. What should've been a few minutes at the VA turned into well, a long wait and an impromptu appointment.

He actually had two appointments, and they both were accommodating. Yes, we could have been done with both quickly.

@GardenGerty I'm glad that you got them both done and they could accommodate you.

Got a phone call yesterday. Cystoscopy is now scheduled for November 13. Another day to take off!! Heaven forbid I ever get sick and need time off. It will be all used up. Glad he is getting the procedure done, though.

@GardenGerty I think we have something almost every day for the next two weeks. Heaven knows how we would have managed if we weren't retired.

I dislike that I took time off, and that I got frustrated by his refusal to leave on time. It spoiled what could have been a fun day. I appreciate that they are not doing an uncomfortable procedure if it is not needed. In general, though, I did hate the day.

@GardenGerty Right! I'm also glad they didn't do a procedure that didn't need to be done!!

I wonder why they told you the wrong thing. Was this the same doctor that gave you the wrong appointment time a few months ago, and you showed up on a different day than they said they had you scheduled for? I think I remember that happening, but maybe that was for your appointment, and not his?

This was for the same practitioner, we did not show up for the appointment, but played an awful lot of phone tag as they could not get Bob in for a CT which was needed for this appointment. We were, if I remember correctly, en route when I found out. That was last month. I was off so did not have to take time off. This was a new person for us and he is not sure why we were scheduled with him instead of the other doctor. Getting the CT scan gave them more information. It still comes down to the other doctor needs to review the CT and make the final decision on whether or not the exploratory procedure needs to be done.

They ask those questions a lot at the VA, too….”are you in any danger at home?” I tell them I live alone but I’m clumsy, so yes.

We have each had these questions several times in the last few months, even from civilian doctors. Big push to put people in nursing homes. Soon they will start springing the Alzheimer's tests on us, but we pass those every time.

Why did he want to be late for his appointments? That doesn't make sense. I'm glad they accommodated him anyway, though.
You needed a day off, so that's okay.

He just does not feel the urgency I do, I think. Earlier this month there was road construction on his preferred route and it had frustrated him. I accused him of being very bullheaded, and he just said "When I am right, I'm right, and when I am wrong, I'm wrong." He did not want to stop reading his book.

Probably safer here than anywhere else. It seems they are getting pushier with those questions.

I'm sorry you wasted a day off. I hope you had a decent time going out to eat. Have a good day.
