I've been posting about dengue fever which is a viral infection also called brokebone fever because of the severe pain it can cause. Johnson & Johnson has a pill in the works that could prevent dengue. Experts warn that dengue is a growing health threat to the United States. There are 4 strains of the virus currently in 10 countries which includes Thailand, the Philippines, Brazil, Columbia and Peru. Johnson & Johnson stated that future testing may prove that the pill can also be helpful in treating those already infected. 40,000 people die from dengue each year. Mary Lou Retton, 55, the Olympic gold medalist, remains in the ICU battling a rare form of pneumonia. When our power was out last week, I forgot to tell you that because of the internet being down along with our V service, I began to read a book. As you probably know, I had been on a reading hiatus for a couple of years because I had so much trouble concentrating. Hopefully I can set aside some time each day to sit and read.
