Another day, another VA appointment. Today is audiology. After this and getting better hearing aids hopefully music will sound better. I know what you’re thinking: “If you didn’t listen to that weird stuff it would sound better automatically!” Here’s today’s song. #6: Ain’t Nothin’ Shakin’ (But the Leaves on the Tree) - Billy “Crash” Craddock You can thank Billy “Crash” Craddock for the inclusion on this list. The original version was slightly more grammatically correct, with the chorus saying “there’s nothin’ shakin’ but the leaves on the trees.” Craddock is known as “Mr. Country Rock,” and not because he sounded like the Eagles. No, he had quite the career of covering pop and rock songs. Since I was listening to nothing but country (and these reasonable facsimiles ) I first heard “Knock Three Times” from him, as well as “Dream Lover” and “Slippin’ and Slidin’.” As you can tell by this recording, he had a little Elvis vibe going on in his voice. He was also considered a “sex symbol,” which was something country music just didn’t have back in those days. Craddock’s biggest hit came in 1974, with “Rub It In.” It hit #1 country and was a top 20 pop hit. He’s 84 now and still does concerts. Ain’t Nothin’ Shakin’ (But the Leaves on the Tree) Written by Eddie Fontaine, Cirino Colacrai, Diane Lampert, and John Gluck, Jr. Recorded by Billy “Crash” Craddock Released as a single, 1972 Why must she be such a doggone tease:

I was surprised to read that he’s still doing concerts. Probably not “touring” at his age, but doing shows around Nashville.

@FourWalls Some of these 'lads' were so good-looking to us teenagers.

I do hear a hint of Elvis. I’m not familiar with him, but it’s okay.

I am used to his version so I tend like it better than the original.

He swore up and down to all the radio stations that wouldn’t play the song back in 1974 that it was about nothing more than suntan lotion. (Yeah, right. )

Not surprising, given that you didn’t know The Who’s lead singer yesterday.
