Lost Car Key

Yesterday we had plans made to go to Springfield, LA to pick up online auction win. I usually sit in on an online auction on Monday and Thursday nights and had some pieces of Fenton that I had won on Monday night. They were also having a yard sale Saturday so I was happy to be able to check that out also. (More on that later and what I found!!) Since we were going to Louisiana, I asked my hubby if we could drive to Covington about 30 miles from where we were going to visit my cousins. One of them has cancer and I really wanted to visit with her a little bit since I rarely get to see her. I asked her sister if she would run to the Goodwill Store with me while the guys talk fishing and boats. She agreed quickly and glad to get out of the house for a little while. We got up Saturday and had a late breakfast, all the animals were fed and I was almost dressed when the man asked for my car keys. He lost his key to my car and we only have ONE key. I looked in my bathroom where I usually put it every night and it wasn't there. I looked all over the bathroom to see if I laid it somewhere else. Nope. Checked my pant's pockets that I wore the day before, not there. Checked the kitchen, not there. Checked the den, not there. I'm in a panic now. Hubby goes to see if I locked them in the car, not there. I looked in the other bathroom, not there. Go through every room again and look in my purse where I never put them and not there. Go back to the bathroom and look again and find them on the vanity less than 6" where I usually keep them. Really? I can't believe I didn't see them as many times as I looked in there and so close! So that's my dumb story of what happened yesterday. What have you lost lately and found too?

That must have been quite a relief. The last thing I lost was the pair of scissors I had out today. It felt like it took me forever to find them, but after about twenty minutes, I finally did.

Isn't that annoying? I'm trying to get the photo to load. Grr. It's not to big so I don't know what the problem is.

@kareng Was it the photo of the key? I could swear I saw it a minute ago, but now it's not showing.

I know how you felt. I lost my door key. I always drop them on the counter when I come inside but they weren’t there. I looked everywhere over and over in a panic, then I happened to glance at the floor under the counter and there they were. That was a second time I lost my keys. I think I wrote a discussion about the other time.

I'm glad you found your keys! I do not like to lose keys! My hubby lost two key rings with lots of keys on them this past summer. It was a real pain getting duplicates made and he had to cut a few locks and replace them on equipment outside. Not fun.

I lost my car keys at Walmart not long ago. Another customer found them and turned them in. I had panicked. A real bad feeling. Glad you found them.

Oh I could imagine your panic there. Replacement key on mine is $450! Crazy. We decided to try to make it with one key! I don't know how long that will last at this rate.

What a relief. I lost my dragon cane and went nuts, thinking I'd left it by the front fence and somebody had carried it off. I found it waiting for me, hung over a dining room chair.

@kareng I'm always careful not to get too cross about things as it's bound to be me who does something silly next time around.

Sometimes things have a way of hiding in plain sight..I lose and find things all the time...probably the remote which is always in a different place. I have resolved to try to keep both of them in the remote holder when not in use, since I am tired of looking for them all the time.

@kareng I resorted to hanging my keys by the door when I come home, but the trouble is, I only put them there about half the time.

It is rather amusing how we can look right at something and not see it. Too familiar that our brain doesn't register it or what? Glad you found them.

I think when I looked there that I was zooming in at the spot where I normally put them. They were about 3 inches to the left of normal spot. I'm very glad I found them! Would of ruined the day for sure!

I am glad you found them. My husband always complains because he can never see what he is searching for and it is exactly where it was. It happens. We are so stressed in the fear not to find and we cannot see the object.

@LadyDuck @MarieCoyle said that some Auto Zone stores are making fobs now for cars so I will be checking in to that! It is not right for dealerships to have monopoly on that!

I had my key and laundry detergent in my hand one day and dropped the keys beside the laundry detergent when I put it on the shelf. Took forever to find it and that is the only one for my truck

Oh, I think I would truly consider getting another key fob. If you were to actually lose your only one, the cost goes up, they often have to tow your car, and it takes a day or two to get it programmed, etc. Just a thought...I hate losing keys, knock on wood, haven't done that for years and hope I don't.

@MarieCoyle Yep, I need to find the name and number of the guy we used when my puppy locked the doors with the keys inside! He only charged $75 to open the door and key fobs were only like $175. Much better than $450 from the dealer!!

@kareng I had a friend lose a key fob last year? She said she went to an Auto Zone store and they can make fobs, which I did not know. However, she did say she thought it was a fairly new thing, so you might call first to be sure. I know there are cheaper options now other than the dealer, but of course we have to search for them. $450 is just ridiculous!

I'm glad you found your car keys. Nothing recently. I lost my keys a few years ago and found them in the car between the seats. Hard to get at them. I also lost my house key last year and found it in my purse after I called the locksmith. They were right where I looked before. I think keys like to have fun with us.

Yeah my mother had lost her key fob twice. I found it twice. The first time she freaked out. She was no help. She called a locksmith which she wanted me to pay for it. I finally found her key fob on the ground near the back porch. She called the locksmith back to tell him I found it. The second time she freaked out again. This time I looked on her bed and they were under some pants that were laying on the bed.
