One of the exhibits from the Walton's museum I saw on Saturday. I had been there maybe 15 years ago. I think the museum is the same, but now there is a bed and breakfast across the street and a tour you can take. They had pics of all the kids as children as well as the actors who portrayed them...plus many other exhibits.

Yes, I have watched it a few times when the ID channel has reruns on.

@snowy22315 We have access to many older programs as we only stream and no not use cable at all.
The Waltons has been removed from the rerun list for the past few years, I do not know if it will return as alot of time has passed and they haven't put it on.
And then there are the really golden oldies like Gilligan's Island, they are on all of the time still.

They were based on a real life family. Their real name was Hamner. Earl Hamner who was a writer, and wrote many Twilight Zone episodes as well as other works convceived of the series and wrote most of the story lines I think. Earl was the oldest boy "John Boy."

@snowy22315 I remember the show being on TV and some of my peers at school talking about it. I never saw it so the only bit I remember was the end where they all say goodnight and the lights go out.

They did indeed, although the names were changed in the show. In fact the original novel which got everything started Spencer's Mountain even had a different name. They said what it was, in the video I watched, but I forgot what it was..actually just a second...I am going to see if I can look it up. I can't find it, but he said it actually was on property belonging to his uncle, and Spencer was a family name.

Thanks, it was fairly entertaining. A bit overpriced, but what can you do?

It's a good show. That and Little House on the Prairie were very popular I watched a good Walton's episode a month or two ago that guest starred John Ritter.

We watched it every week back in the day I didn't see the actual homestead, but the lady at the museum..calling her a docent gives too much credit, said the actual restored house isn't very big

It is fun to see the real people behind the actors in the show.
