Heat was off

I awoke this morning to a cold apartment. I looked at the thermostat and it was blank. Nothing to do but get dressed and wait for the office to open.
They open at ten on Saturday so I grabbed a sparce breakfast while I waited and was at the office at ten.
It was a short time until maintenance knocked on the door. He took the thermometer down and looked inside and said it needed a new battery.
He went out and was back in a few minutes with a battery, put it in places and the heat came on. So now I have a nice warm apartment. Has your heat ever gone off?
I saw this tree when I was out walking today. The red looked so pretty among the yellow.

@RubyHawk .......Nice that a mere battery did the trick.

@celticeagle That was a happy moment when he replaced the battery and the heat came on.

That's a beautiful picture. I'm glad maintenance came right away and replaced the battery. When we first moved in, the heat didn't work. We had to get a whole new furnace. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio I had to wait over a week when my water heater went out, then they sent electric instead of a gas heater and it had to be changed.

Had I seen a blank screen on the thermostat that would have been the very first thing I would have checked and just replaced the battery myself. But glad you got it resolved even if the maintenance guy probably walked away scratching his head. ![](/Content/images/emotes/rasp.gif)

Thankfully, it hasn't been cold enough here for me to have the heat on yet.

Oh, what a morning adventure with your thermostat! It's a good thing you got it sorted out and now have a cozy, warm apartment to enjoy.
Here in Singapore, it's usually cooler than needing a heater ;)
As for the tree you saw while out walking, I can just imagine how stunning that splash of red must have looked against the backdrop of yellow. Nature has a way of surprising us with its vibrant beauty, even on the simplest walks. I hope I can share too stunning sights on my next walk..

Glad that you got your heat back and it wasn't a huge problem. This isn't the time of year we want to be without heat.
That tree is so pretty. I love this time of year when the leaves all change color.

@RubyHawk it's hard to pick since both are so pretty. I love Fall with the leaves changing but the green of spring just breathes new life after a long winter.

Not that I know has the heat inside my relatives home gone out other than a blackout.

@Deepizzaguy That’s good. I didn’t know the thermostat had a battery.

The tree is gorgeous. Yes, we have heat go out, not in this house. We have to light our furnaces here to have heat. I have had the hot water heater go out as well.
