My Hyperthyroidism journey!

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism for almost a year now. Symptoms I felt went this way. I had trouble eating and sleeping, nervousness that may just show up even without anything serious is going on, series of palpitations, some headaches, anxiety, diarhea, some but seldom sweating and shaking, irritability, sleeplessness, high blood pleasure and the worst I had experience was gasping of breath. Actually, it signals me to rush to the emergency as I did not know what was going on to my system. After getting there, I was shocked that everything was normal and my breathlessness gradually turned to normal too. The next morning, I had palpitations again so I went back to the ER and set for observation and was given pills for palpitation for 7 days. The next 10 days as my condition was not getting well, I decided to go back to the hospital and the physician who took over my concerns ordered blood tests, ECG, urinalysis and x-ray to rule out what was really going on. Then, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and immediately given medications for thyroid and palpitations. Hyperthyroidism is not an easy disease to deal with. For me it takes a lot of effort between the patient, family and the physician. On my case, although was not instructed to follow a strict diet, I still did what I'm feeling good for myself. I did a lot of research on how to help my body normalizes my thyroid hormone or atleast lower down my triggers. At first, it is hard as if nothing is changing and or improving most especially my palpitation, chest discomfort, sleeping pattern etc. I consulted my doctor again to address my sleeping disorder and he prescribed a sleeping pill which it didnt work later on. Im really feeling frustrated and helpless that time but I did not stop finding ways to help my body to heal. Since I cant sleep easily, I spent most of my time staring at my phone screen scrolling videos and demos on youtube etc. Until I tried downloading calming, healing sounds and vibrations and meditational music. Alas! It worked until now. Also, I read a lot about foods good for thyroid functions and in my case, I found out that goitrogenic foods are essential for hyperthyroid patients. I cut down my sea food consumption (just seldom for fish now), lessen my red meat (but I cant give up on chicken), less to no iodized salt, lowered sugarry food consumption and no to instant/processed food products in store. Mainly, I based my diet on fruits and vegetables (also plant- based food supplements imported from Canada) . I stopped drinking alcohol and any beverages that contains caffeine except for black coffee (of course, am still smoking cigar). I decided to alternate soda to probiotic drinks and It worked again! Aside from curving my bad eating habits, there is one thing I'm routinely doing which I think is very beneficial for me everytime I feel stressed, exhausted as if everything is out of sync. It is watching the "Jesus Movie" in the gospel of Luke. I dont know, but it gives me a lot of relaxation and comfort. Instead of listening to music before bed, this movie triggers my body to get into a deep sleep state. It's like relaxing my mind, my heartbeat and opening up my veins that blood can circulate freely. But before sleeping, I really pray. 32 days ago to be exact, I went back to the hospital to see my doctor for a scheduled routine check up. He ordered me to undergo for neck ultrasound to check my progress while on medication. While waiting for the result, he consulted me of what have I been doing for the days I never showed up. I told him about my regimen.. from curving my bad eating habits, regular blood pressure monitoring, my newly discovered hobby which is listening to healing and meditational music and of course, watching the best movie for stress relief and a lot more. Finally, in several hours the result came in.. We're both surprised that my thyroid gland is normal with no sign of malignancy, lump and bumps prominent in the outside was gone, also with sourrounding neck tissues and stuff turned normal. No hard lessions, no nodules no cyst as in nothing is remarkable. My doctor congratulated me for doing well. My tears, slowly fell down to my cheeks as with honest confession, there is a history of thyroid disease on my father's side and my mom was diagnosed with a tongue cancer at her age of 42 which ended her life a year after. My doctor listened carefully. He advised me to continue my medication and I have to undergo for evaluation and assessment before he can finally advice me totally let go of my medicines. At this point, what can I say is God is good all the time. He is in control of everything. There may be a lot of difficulties in life, Im pretty sure and you would also be so sure that God never gives us problems that we cannot handle. He let us suffer now (sometimes) in order to prepare for a more challening ways on our path to a better life. Just believe in Him. Trust him and youre always in God's protection, guidance and Love. Final word! To address issues on your thyroid, do this things 1. Find the best endocrinologist 2. Help yourself to heal 3. Dont stress things out.. Dont let stress eats you 4. Let tomorrow takes care of itself 5. Relax 6. Have adequate sleep 7. Take your medicine on time 8. Stop the triggers 9. Be positive, be happy. Dont overthink and do things 10. Pray

My own health experience and yours seem to share a lot of striking similarities based on what I have read so far about your post. Even though my bloodwork came back normal, my irregular blood pressure persisted, and no physical abnormalities were discovered. I chose to attempt consulting without realizing that I was already experiencing anxiety and depression. I have never done this before because there are so many uncontrollable things happening. But now, nearly eight months later, with the support of my psychiatrist and medicine, my thoughts are beginning to clear.

@Anthony1023 I believe I am on the mend. I have occasional episodes, but I can manage the situation because I am already aware of it.

I'm due to have mine checked out again. I'm monitored with nodules on my thyroid. I was able to get off the medication years ago. I'm thinking I may need it again. Congrats on doing so well and getting a good report from doctor!!
