Laura Gold who was jogging in the Sierra Madre Trail in California had the scare of her life on Wednesday November 8th when she saw a mom bear and two of her cubs walking behind Laura. Laura did play it safe by making noises in an attempt to make noises since bears cannot stand noises from humans. Laura was able to get away from the three bears by walking away and use an alternate route with suffering any injuries. Link is upi.com/5741700601213 via @upi

That's a pretty big mama black bear! I am glad she (Laura) did not get between her and her cubs.

@TheHorse I have read stories that black bears do not like noise or encountering humans.

Oh my goodness, that must have been an incredibly frightening experience for Laura! It's amazing that she remained calm and handled the situation wisely by making noises to deter the bears. Nature can be both beautiful and unpredictable. Have you ever had a close encounter with wildlife while on a trail or in nature? I only experienced seeing a huge monitor lizard lying in the middle of our hiking path..

@Deepizzaguy even if it's as simple as seeing cows on a farm, can leave a lasting impression. It sounds like a serene and peaceful experience.

The only time I had an encounter with nature seeing cows in a farm in the interior of Panama where my late aunts and uncles used to live.

It's good she came out OK. A mama bear is a dangerous bear being protective.

Laura was very lucky. They can be aggressive if they have cubs.

A zoo expert once said wave your arms around, and make a ton of weird sound if a bear ever approaches you. I will remember that!

I hadn't heard about this and I know where Sierra Madre is! I guess she knew exactly what to do . . . we were taught too to make noises . . . that an empty mint tin with some coins would do the trick!
