Hard Trials and Then Something to Make Me Smile

There has been many trials these last eight months but this past week has been nuts.
My furnace went out during our huge freeze. I caught the kids bad cold and now have to sit with toilet paper in my nose.
Went to Urgent care the day before Thanksgiving and then Saturday emergency surgery on my side. Daily have to have the site cleaned and repacked (I will spare details) and painful.
Found out my daily copay for the hospital is $250. Yikes. I am refusing to go back and finally got the clinic portion of the hospital to see me tomorrow morning at $35. What a difference.
I have a great primary doctor but she is in Oregon. That is a five hour one way trip.
I was feeling overwhelmed and then my grandson's mama sent me a bunch of photos and a video. It changed my whole perspective and day.
I'm smiling, excited, and thanking God. He has down syndrome and was adopted by a beautiful family almost two years ago. I wanted him but my daughter refused to allow anyone in the family to take him. Another story for another time.
I'm so blessed she is sending me photos and telling me how he is doing. He has two other brothers and a sister who also have down syndrome. Absolutely amazing beautiful family. I'm able to send gifts as well.
I am feeling fantastic now.
I hope you all are doing well tonight.

It is here as well. I have running water thankfully. Heated hose helps a lot. But, my tank valves are frozen. The RV guy is coming here after his trip to Yakima tomorrow. His price quote is so much better than the other guys and he has good ratings. My cold is full force now. I'll probably go to bed early for once.

Sounds like you've had nothing but bad luck lately. Family photos can change our whole outlook, can't they? So nice that you are able to send gifts and have a relationship. Sounds like quite a family he has.

It's been crazy especially the last two years. Really escalated this year. I'm trying to keep faith and go forward. I'm strong but some days I want to curl up and whine. The family he is with is amazing. I feel so comfortable with them and know they will protect him.

@noni1959 ......I'm glad to hear that the family who has him is of good stock. That must help at least.

@celticeagle It does. They go to church and he loves to sing there. Have huge supportive family and three others with down syndrome.

Gosh that is so sad. I think staying in the family would have been better for the child but it sounds like this family who took him is cherishes him. They are just the cutest babies aren’t they! I’m so glad you get to see him grow through photos. Does he live very far? Maybe you can see him once in awhile if not.
I am so sorry to hear you needed surgery. Practically robbery to charge $250 a day when the other place can do it for $35. Makes me angry . What was the surgery you needed to have done?

Thank you for the kind words. I have a RV guy coming tomorrow afternoon. He thinks it's something more simple than what I think and that will be such a blessing. God has been answering prayers. He has lessens but not sure what his week of freezing is.

Oh, you really went through a lot. And I am glad you are now feeling fantastic. I know the feeling that at one time things aren't that great , but in right time and patience , , eventually you'd feel better.
And take care all the time. Keep safe and healthy??
