Christmas Cards: A One-Sided Affair?

Tis the season for spreading joy, and I've been happily sending out Christmas cards for years to friends and family. However, it seems my mailbox is echoing back silent nights instead of festive cheer!
Do you receive acknowledgments for your Christmas cards, or is it a mysterious disappearing act too?
Wishing you all a season filled with more responses than my mailbox has seen so far!

I get less and less Christmas cards every year. Seems as if cards aren't as popular as they once were. I find that I don't send as many as I used to and usually only to those I don't see very often.

I'm sorry you're not getting any Christmas cards. I've sent out many cards to people on myLot and I've gotten several in return. I also have a couple from the people who live here. I still need to get mine out to the people here and send out cards to my family.

I keep my Christmas card sending to a select few. Close friends and family. I still receive replys from those I send them to.
I guess you need to revise your naughty and nice Christmas card list. (just kidding)

Haha, revising the naughty and nice Christmas card list sounds like a good thing to think about :)
Quality over quantity, right? Do you have any favorite types of cards or themes that you enjoy sending to your close friends and family?

@wiLLmaH Just something with a Christmasy/winter spirit and a warm holiday greeting. I've sent ones with Santa Claus, Reindeer, Snowman and a scene with a snow covered home.

Over the years I have been getting fewer and fewer Christmas cards every year. A lot of people stopped sending cards during Covid . Now the price of a stamp has increased so much that people cannot afford to send as many as they used to. Some people send greetings by email or text message instead these days.
I have also noticed that the quality of Christmas cards that you buy is not the same as it used to be. The cardboard is cheap and the images on these cards are sometimes silly and nothing to do with Christmas.

I also noticed that the quality of cards is pretty cheap these days. Prices are expensive as well as the increase in postage.

@Marilynda1225 That is exactly the problem, cheap cards that are expensive and postal rates keep rising.

When my oldest kids were little I sent out a Christmas card with a photo of them in it every year. When they stopped liking me to take their photo that tradition stopped. I used to get more cards back then too but I only get maybe 3 now and I only send out two.

@RasmaSandra Sounds absolutely enchanting! Its feels a reminder how many people remembered/loves you during that season!
Digital greetings are a modern twist, and the sentiment behind them can be just as heartwarming.

@wiLLmaH I would love to have it they way my parents had it. They had a lot of friends and got amazing beautiful Christmas cards, To make it enjoyable for me as a child they strung cord around the living room and hung up each and every card. It was awesome. Now I hardly have any friends and so I prefer keeping it each and sending digital greetings,

I send very few Christmas cards now. I used to send 50 out just to family members. There were more for friends, church, etc. I can't do that anymore. The cards are way expensive, the postage goes up, and it is frustrating. We don't get many cards either. Most of my friends and family are gone now. I try to send ecards or call people on the phone during the holiday season.

With digitalization, such acts are slowly disappearing and dying. I have not received any physical cards in years. Most of the wishes and invitations come on digital mode these days. I badly miss the old days

While the convenience of digital wishes is undeniable, there's a nostalgic charm in the tangible warmth of a physical card. Yet, in this evolving era, the sentiment behind the greetings remains, and the memories of traditional gestures add a special touch.

@arunima25 Do you have a favorite card from past years that still brings a smile to your face?

@wiLLmaH I totally agree with that. I cherish those physical cards with hand written wishes on it. Each one is so special with its personal touch. Sad that convenience is replacing so many precious things in current times.

Disappearing act definitely! I think a lot of family and friends traditions from this festive time of year is disappearing, sadly. Also, most of our family are in Southern Africa, and the postal service over there is also doing a disappearing act. So we'll do e-cards this year and see if anybody else makes some effort.
